I own a pc with AGP 8x slot. I use a Geforce 5500 graphic card and I would like to upgrade to a card that supports DirectX 10. Could anyone plz reccomend a good card for me. PS - The card should be AGP as I cannot upgrade my pc to get a PCI Express slot.
There are supposed to be DirectX 10 graphics cards coming out, but they're not here yet. By the time they are, depending on what you have, and considering that you'll have to switch to Vista to use them, a whole new rig might be the best thing to start looking into anyway.
The best agp card currently on the marcket is the x1950xt. Which is about £135 from ebuyer. However there are currently no  dx10 cards for agp out. Its now down to nvidia and atis partners eg evga/sapphire to make agp cards adapted from pci express ones as neither company officially supports agp.
Just bin looking on the internet and it looks like your in luck. The there will be a hd x2400, hd x2600pro and hd x2600xt. However none of these are gonna out perform the x1950xt even the hd x2600xt is crippled when compared with the pci express version as it only has gddr 3 ram instead of gddr 4. It will whup a 7600gt agp tho.

Yeah but it allows for faster memory speeds. What i was trying to explain was it wont perform as well as the pcie version.

We'll see when it comes out, but I'm betting that there will be fairly minimal different between the AGP and PCI-e versions. The HD2600XT is not likely to completely saturate even the x8 AGP bandwidth, and I doubt GDDR4 is going to make that much of a difference.
