Hi I'm new to the wonderful world of PC gaming, since I've relised how bad console was compared to PC. I've been playing games like Left 4 dead 2, Team Fortress 2 , COD MW3, ECT . Anyway, i seem to get very low frame on most of my games unless i play on low resolution which is ok but i would really love to play the game at a smoother and clearer version. My PC Specs Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E6500 @ 2.93GHz 2.93 GHZ RAM: 4.00GB System Type: 64-bit Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 5450 Can anybody recommend me a good graphics card which can play Valve games (in particulate) at a high frame rate on higher resolution? Please tell me if I've missed anything obvious since i am new to PC Gaming. Or Please tell me some ways I can increase the frame rate for my games. Thank you

If you don't want to buy a new power supply and CPU get a HD 7750.

I would rather something under $200 but if I must go over then i will. Also i think my PSU wattage is either 350 or 400. I'm not sure.

look around for a GTX560 maybe even the TI version if you can. It would play those games just fine, even a amd 6850-6870 would do fine.

Yeah but I feel like that CPU will bottleneck anything better than a 7750.

It wont, it all depends on the game now if your talking about a game that would like a quad core , however the games the TC wants to play dont need much more then a descent dual core.

id say get a GTX 460, it may be last gen but if thats all you are going to play it will do it without breaking a sweat, if you have a good psu and spend a little extra id get a GTX 560 Ti which is a really good card for a budget

what is the brand of the power supply? Right now a 6770 or even a 7770 should be fine. If you stretch things a radeon 6850 might also fit in.

The price on 7770 just went down in price and with those lower end games your talking about it should be able to handle that nicely.

All those games aren't very intensive at all, anything like a 9800GT or above will run these games no sweat. You shouldn't have to spend much.

True. I had a hd6670 in my son's computer before I purchased the hd6850 for him. He was running a Athlon dual core with 8gb ram.The 6670 was a solid card, at least for not having to upgrade the power supply. It was the Asus 1gb ddr5 version. They're very cheap now. I think you can get them on Tigerdirect for under 90.00.

James161324
That is a very good card. The hd6850 and gtx460 seem about equal, although I would give the slight edge to the gtx460. I have twins and one has the hd6850, while the other has the gtx460,Their PCs are pretty identical after that. I notice the gtx460 performing a tad bit better in most of the same games they've played. My son even has more ram and a faster processor in the 6850 pc.

My 8800GT was able to run these games perfectly fine at high settings. You don't need anything even remotely resembling an expensive card.

This, I'm using my 8800 GT as we speak and it runs all those games fine, althouughh I did have to turn a couple of settings down in MW3 suprisingly.
