Finally! I wonder where it will be set? I'm hoping Miami or somewhere sunny.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
Real? I didn't think they would name it 5. I really hope it has a good setting.
Edit : Just saw it on Gamespot also.
There were lots of rumors about it being similar to SA and I don't know, but the logo sure gives me such a vibe, of gangs and casinos, SA on this engine would be awesome.DanielDustYeah something like a Miami or LA setting would be awsome. But try not to exagerate with the gang thing.

God I love the gang thing, and if it is San Andreas I just hope there's constant gang warfare, I hate killing cops all the time.
Isn't this more a GGD topic then only a PC gaming topic since it is also on almost every other platform?ModernMuhCowIt depends really. PC gamers were quite pleased by the modding-friendly San Andreas for example while not so much with the console port that is GTA IV, however after some mods, PC gamers gave it attention, so I guess one could argue we could rabble on about GTA V and modding.

This better be released on 2nd gen console, not the current ones or it will stink on PC.
Plus, as usual, there will be a year delay for PC release so this game is probably 3 years away.
The logo is sweet :D
And since Rockstar are so great at making stereotype America, I've always wisshed we'd get a GTA set the deep south....the stereotypes you could make about rednecks and such would be hilarious. That or go back to the three city San Andreas.
I thought this too. So maybe we will see GTA London again.[QUOTE="broken_bass_bin"]
The "five" looks similar to the style of a £5 note in the UK.
:o

Since I made that post, I've noticed it actually has more of a resemblance to the "five" on a US $5 bill
So I think I may have jumped too soon on that one. Sadly :(
Not surprising, but still looking forward to seeing some info about it.
I wonder if they're going to try to continue the more serious story that they had in GTA IV, or if they are taking it into a (slightly) more Saints Row kind of direction?
Going to be really interesting to see.

yes you did ;)
got my hopes up for a minute then
Why would they take a more "saints row" direction? when Saints row is a copycat who figured out they couldnt compete with Rockstar and GTA? Saints row is a poor mans version of GTA and will never be anything but a joke, just look at the graphics in Saints row 3 it looks like something from the 80'sNot surprising, but still looking forward to seeing some info about it.

Why not a GTA Tokyo game? You know, all Yakuza and Japanese culture.GazaAliIt would be very difficult to make a GTA Tokyo ,mainly because the whole japanesse culture is so different from the american so to get the same humor in would be hard. A huge part of GTA is the stereotypes and the radioshows/tv shows and other things then just gangs.
My reaction to this news is pretty "meh" which is in complete contrast to the GTA 4 announcement. I still remember shouting "YES" several times when GTA 4 was announced and immediately played San Andreas for several days after. However that was then and this is now, the god awful port of GTA 4 on the PC and the total incompetence of Rockstar with regards to how they handle the PC platform has pretty much killed off any interest in the GTA franchise (or anything from Rockstar).
About the only way I will purchase GTA 5 is if Rockstar release the PC version alongside the console version (other companies manage it), they do a decent job of porting it to the PC and they get rid of some of the mind numbingly boring activities such as dating and taking your friends god damn bowling. However I can't see Rockstar doing any of those things so like the DLC add ons I will just ignore the game when it does eventually come to the PC.

Yes it is the exact same font as a $5 bill and the green in the V looks like the same texture as a U.S. bill. My brother made a guess that actually be very plausible. He believes it will be set in a Washington D.C. inspired cityWhy not a GTA Tokyo game? You know, all Yakuza and Japanese culture.GazaAliIt'd be a terrible GTA, it's better for Saints Row.
I hope they go back to the comical stories of the older games rather than super serious in IV. It was still fun and entertaining, but I feel like Rockstar forgot about what made GTA so good.
I dont understand the critic of the PC GTA IV , what excactly do you think is being portet badly? and the idea that they would take dating out? why would they its one of the things most people seem to enjoy and give more time in the game, besides you can just avoid it and just do the missions since it only counts towards the 100% mark.My reaction to this news is pretty "meh" which is in complete contrast to the GTA 4 announcement. they should make a GTA in london again
CUDGEdave
So do I, I'm sick of playing in American cities.
Well, if we're going outside the ol U.S. of A. lets make it really exotic.
Tehran.
Bangkok.
Hanoi
Pretoria
or somewhere you would NOT think of...
Personally i'm really cool with a GTA V. Hopefully though, if they choose to do a PC release(somewhat dubious considering the nature of the PC version) hopefully they won't try to DRM the ever living crap out of it and it will be alot more optimized.
Apparently its supposed to take place in LA. I'm cool with this but i'm just wondering if they'll recycle some stuff from L.A. Noire(which i'll be honest i also wouldn't mind)

I don't think it was ported badly I know it was ported badly. My experience of GTA 4 on a Q6600 with 4gbs of ram and a GTX260 is one of having to play the game BELOW the console equivalent settings just to get the frame rate to stay above 30fps. Now a Q6600 and a GTX260 was no slouch when GTA 4 came out and it should not have had any problem running the game massively better than the consoles but due to the sloppy job Rockstar did the game ran like crap. However I was one of the "lucky" ones, I could actually get it to run there were plenty of others that spent weeks waiting for a fix to the dreaded "Resc 10" error.
The game was such a technical mess on the PC that Rockstar ended up setting up an official account over at a fanbased forum to deal with technical problems. The patches they released (all 7 of them) usually broke more than they fixed. I remember the second patch removed huge chunks of the environment (hot dog stands that kind of thing) and we had to wait weeks for them to be re-introduced.
I could write a ten page post on all the problems with GTA 4 but instead if you really think GTA 4 was not a bad port then I suggest you google "GTA 4 PC problems" and see for yourself. There is a reason why GTA 4 has a user metacritic score of just 5.2 .

In my experience from what I have seen the dating and friend dates crap has not been received all that well and no it was not "optional" there were several in game missions that required you mess about with that crap to progress through the story.
their habit is to up the number with new engines... gta1 different engine the gta2 (gta london 1969) same with gta3 ... vice city and SA used the same engine as gta3 no new number gta4 again new engine... so by history gta5 should be a new different engine the gta4... as much as i want to buy it... (i've bought every gta) NO+RDR+PC=BOYCOTT R* =pReal? I didn't think they would name it 5. I really hope it has a good setting.

Ahh i see that you have mistaken a number of different things. First of problems with running the game does not mean a bad port, it just mean that rockstar was abit to fast in getting it out. A bad port is a game like Alone in the Dark or a game where they dont even take out the console menus or check if it handles the same way or worse with a keyboard and mouse, none of those problems hit GTA IV on PC. In fact the pc version feels more complete and more polished then the console version, yes that is after a few patches but still. And honestly you can blame rockstar that much, there is as many different pc specs as there is people who have played GTA. Also the userscore of 5.2 is based on people who are angry because the game doesnt run perfect at once, i would say that GTA IV is one of the best selling pc games shows just how good it is.I want a good storyline and some natural beauty sites like mountains, beaches etc.
GTA IV was a bit dull in this regard.

Erm no a "bad port" is not limited to rubbish like console menus (which the PC version of GTA 4 had) and there were problems with keyboard and control in the PC version of GTA 4 (many could not finish the last mission due to a bug in the control scheme for GTA 4 which they never fixed). The PC version was a bad port in every way it could possibly be a bad port.

Yes you can blame Rockstar that much it was their product. I have been a PC gamer for 20 years and I appreciate that there will always be issues due to the open nature of the PC platform. However GTA 4 ran like crap on pretty much everything out there. It did not matter if you had a dual core, quadcore, tri core, i3, i5 or i7 the game was horrendous. I saw a poll once that showed 70% of people that bought GTA 4 had problems with it. Even now today several years later we still see posts from people asking how they can actually get GTA 4 running at a playable frame rate.
Also the userscore of 5.2 is based on people who are angry because the game doesnt run perfect at once, i would say that GTA IV is one of the best selling pc games shows just how good it is.Jacanuk
You can try and paint the userscore as a result of those "angry because the game doesn't run perfect at once" or you can actually READ the reviews and see exactly what people were complaining about. You will find nearly all the reviews back up the fact that GTA 4 on the PC was a god awful port it had technical issues for nearly everyone that bought the game. As for it being the "best selling pc game" please provide proof. I would say the fact you could buy GTA 4 for £10 less than a month after release on the PC doesn't scream "this is flying off the shelves".

yep i had that bug
@jacanuk read the opening line of gamespot's gta iv pc review where they refer to the technical issues of the game and call it a lazy port.
la noire will be rockstar's chance to redeem themselves after gta iv and bully
To all the PC gamers !
Please tell Rockstar that you want GTA V for PC to be a simultanesous release with the consoles politely by sending them an email to mouthoff@rockstargames.com
Rememberto tell them you wouldn't mind paying $60 as long as we get the same release date as with the consoles.
They might not reposnd but at least they know the PC gamers wanting GTA V for PC to be released simultaneously with the consoles. They know that the PC gamers wanted Red Dead Redemption for PC after sometime of requesting through both Newswire post andmouthoff@rockstargames.com (although they probably will never released Red Dead Redemption for PC, but GTA V for PC will surely do)
Do this as quick as possible ! (better yet, start now)
