Today my dad bought me a bunch of pc parts, im not very handy with computers and i would like to know if this stuff is all good and will work well with eachother, im hoping to run Crysis on pretty good graphics, thanks. here are what i have.

Intel Core 2 Duo e6850 Processor

2 Ultra DDR2 memory 1024mb 800mhz

Geforce 8800GT

nForce 680i SE SLI Motherboard special edition ddr2 800mhz , 2x16 SLI

seagate/ barracuda 7200.10/ 500gb hard drive.

So i think its good and it all sounds good but will all this stuff make a good gaming pc?

also i have a 500 watt atx power supply and i want to use windows vista and dx10 for crysis but my dad says that he has a friend who says vista is crap and it runs just as good on windows xp with dx9c

thanks

Everything is decent, but what Power Supply is it? And no,Dx 10 isn't worth using,it kills top-of-the-line rigs, just use Dx 9.

you should most defiently run it on high settings with good frames and if your resolution isn't that high you might get away with very high settings it depends

Edit: Oops, read it wrong. 500W is enough if its from a good brand. Corsair, Seasonic, OCZ, FSP, and Antec are good. If its not one of those, you might want to consider switching.

all the stuff on this power supple box says is:

ultra connect vs, 500watt atx power supply with flex force slim cable. the guy at the store suggested it, i said we should get the 800 watt one because it glowed blue lol but it was too expensive.

You're going to need something more than a 500W power supply.Spartan8907
im going to have to strongly disagree wtih you there i wouldn't be suprised if that system draws less than 400watts the 8800gt only wants around 24amps on full load he probaly has at least 30-35

Yeah, I know, I read it wrong. 500W is enough, but if its from some no-name brand, I would not run it.

whats wrong with it brand name powersupplies aren't necessarly a must have just because they don't have the best reputation doesn't mean it will kill his computer and besideshe has such a good chance of being fine if plus if it does break for some reason the only thing that will happen is the powersupply will fail its not like his whole computer will fry like most people try to make it seem like

"Decent"? Lol, someone's a bit more "1337" than me I guess... any incredible parts that you've heard of (better than than that crappy e6850) that I haven't? Geez, the GT sucks... wow, I wish I was as cool as you... would you mind posting specs? I'm sure your prototype E8600 will destroy anything I've got... please sensei, I must learn from you! :D

In all seriousness though Gator, your comp is great. Is it 1024 combined RAM or two 1024s?

*Sighs* Here i go...

QX9650 water-cooled OC @ 5GHz.
780i Mobo water-cooled.
4GB RAM water-cooled.
3 8800 Ultra's in Tri-SLI water-cooled OC.
1000W PSU with 4 30A 12V rails.

Now THAT is 1337.

A single 8400GS would alone destroy all of that.:lol:

No, a intel skull trail mobo with two QX9650 put in (octo processor). Now thats leet.

Anyways, are you planning on overclocking?

If you got the E6850, I would highly suggest you return it and get a Q6600 instead for the same price.
