I don't care about the type of games, I just want to know which game has the ultimate best (realistic graphic) to show case my rig? Game has to have been released.kh_natureOblivion is a very good test also try company of heroes. If you can max those games out at high resolution that means you have a very good rig.
F.E.A.R. Combat (free multiplayer game, some of the best atmospheric and particles effects around)
Far Cry (cheap at Wal-Mart)
Oblivion looks UGLY compared to many other games, though some of the environments are OK.
Here's one of Far Cry :)
1680x1050 and maxed out. :) (8x super-sampling antialiasing, 16x anistropic filtering, etc)Â

Without mods, Oblivion doesn't look amazing. Fully maxed out, STALKER looks excellent. Chronicles of Riddick looks great, as does Prey (though Prey sucks). Quake 4 has great visuals.
You are absolutely right in terms of style, but I think some of the above mentioned games now surpass the mighty Far Cry.Couldn't agree more. Seems strange to say considering how old it is, but Far Cry is still has some amazing graphics.

If you want Oblivion to look as beautiful as it should (read: not with the crappy textures provided so the 360 could run it) go download Qarl's Texture Pack 3. Its hefty at a few gigabytes, but it essentially reworks every texture in the game into double or triple its original detail.
Also, I am not sure what the names are of the mods, but there are some good distance level-of-detail fixes out there that get rid of tiling and make the distant landscape seem more vibrant. There are also some water mods and sky mods.
I also recommend the high-res facial textures...makes faces look twice as good!
All those fancy mods loaded on really start to tax any system, but its worth it.
PS on a side note, I recommend backing up the whole "data" folder prior to modding Oblivion so you dont need to reinstall the game in case a mod stops working or messes your game up.
What are you talking about? Oblivion doesn't look great? Yes it does... not accounting the ugly terrain in the distance but anything close looks great.theking52
I agree. But I am taking the "ugly terrain in the distance" into accoun.

Good advice - it greatly improves Oblivion's graphics. But I am still not convinced that modded-Oblivion is the best looking game out there right now. Some scenes in Quake 4 blow me away, as do some scenes in STALKER.Â
There's a lot of great games for graphics listed above. I'd highly recommend STALKER and Splinter Cell: Double Agent, both have great graphics in their own right.thanatose

With an 8800GTX don't get Double Agent. It ran nicely on my computer but the moment I put in my 8800GTX all the graphics went to hell. This apparently is happening to a lot of people with the 8800 series even with the latest patch and drivers. Â
there is a way to bypass this. create a shortcut of the splintercell4.exe file and add at the end of the target -ll. (those are l's, like lion, not 1's nor I's). For example target: "C:\Games\SC4\splinterCell4.exe" -ll. Great visuals...
Agree with fear, oblivion, stalker etc. Also try the lost planet demo. The game isn't out yet, but you can still rig your pc.Â

I can max Company of Heros on my AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 2 gigs of rams and a 7950GT.  I don't think Company of Heros is a way to test your computer.
Awesome looking games i'd say are
--Supreme Commander on max (experimentals look amazing...and by max i mean 16xAA highest res you can handle and everything else maxed. Seeing the reflections in experimental armor is very cool)
--Infernal - fun action game and it looks quite good maxed out.
--Command and Conquer 3 looks pretty good maxed out.
--Stalker isn't too bad for visuals. Not stunning imo though
Â
I'd say strictly on looks supreme commander and infernal are 2 of the best looking atm. Â
FEAR, Company of Heroes, and some others are good looking as older games but definetely not omg wow looking compared to some more modern games.Â

My Rig:
Intel QX6700 2.66ghz (Quad)
2gb Corsair Dominator ram
160gb Raptor hdd
EVGA 8800GTX KOÂ
i have 6000+ 3,3ghz and 8800gts 570mhz ddr2 2gb ram. i can run all games on high setting:) best looking game is ofcourse halflife 2.sm0ke311
I'm sorry but halflife2 is far from the best looking game. Perhaps in your collection but there are much better looking games now.
i like rainbow 6 vegas! company of heroes looks excellent. doom3 is clearly dated but was good in its time and half life 2 has very good facial expressions but thats about it! play company of heroes on a huge hd tv
[QUOTE="Miguel16"]Lost Planet in DX10. Graphics are insane with everything on high especially with max HDR and motion blurBounceDKLooks exactly the same in DX9, fyi.
Ok i know that but thats not the point...runs better on my machine in dx10 anyway. Nut the point is that its a stunning game...probably the best ive ever seen on pc.
