Everything else except for World in Conflict?

Be a bit more specific please, what elements from WiC do you want along with Base Building?

Well, maybe you can be more specific, but it sounds like you just want a more traditional strategy game. Something like Company of Heroes or StarCraft II.

A game like Age of Empires 3 but in modern time. Not sci-fi either. I would like to have similar graphics to WiC as well.

Would WWII Be modern time for you? Because if so, Company of Heroes fits your description perfectly.

Stay away from DoW2. It has no base building, no resource gathering, no tanks and you never control over 4 squads at once. It's so bad it's cracking me up. Get Dawn of War instead for epic win.

That is pretty much any RTS besides WIC. What sets WIC aside from other RTS is that there is no base building/resource gathering

WIC is in a league of it's own for graphics IMO. Company of Heroes is good to but not as good.

What he said. CoH is decent with all the dirt flyin around but for pure eye candy I don't think anything really has better explosions then WiC, I would love to see another WiC in modern setting

Act of War: Direct Action has a good story IMO. I need to put a XP partition on my drive to play it sometime as Vista doesn't like it.

Generals is probably the best answer although graphically inferior to World in Conflict

Act of War: Direct Action is the best answer, in my opinion. That game is excellent and a ton of fun. Unfortunately, the game has an issue on computers with more than 3gb of RAM. It's unplayable. You basically have to limit the amount of usable RAM in your BIOS or in Windows to 3gb and restart in order to play it. That all said, it's ALMOST worth all that trouble for me. I really loved playing that game. It has plenty of real world or near-real world units, though, so it'll probably feel closest to WiC in that respect.

There's also Ground Control 2, but it's not really that popular.

Bah the first was so much better ;) Logically WiC really is GC3, as far as Massive's take on action RTT goes.
