Think that maybe the engine on the PC has more graphical features and stuff going on for it?

If the game is running a DX11 renderer (which wouldn't suprise me) then it would need a higher i7 to run the DX11 features well. Far Cry 2 was insanely well optimized. I wouldn't expect anything less from this game.

I admit, from what I've seen the game does look good.

Nothing that would require an i7 though. Seems to me more like bad optimization rather than an implementation of advanced features.

If they are using a DX11 renderer though than I will take back my words. But I haven't seen or heard anything about it.

I never heard of "maximum" system requirements before. I am relieved to have a computer that is below the max.

max specs have the same video cards as the recommended. That doesn't seem right. nutcrackr

Far Cry 3 is supposed to be a study on the idea of "insanity". They even worked that idea into the system requirements. I'll be here all week! :P

seems to be more CPU dependant.

So apparently for Far Cry 3, a 2600k= FX-4100 Bulldozer. And you can max it out with a GTS 450. Interesting to say the least.

For those saying that it's a CPU hog, how do you explain the AMD CPU recommendation in comparison with the Intel one?

I was glad to hear that, Splinter Cell: Conviction had CONSTANT save syncing issues for me because of that DRM, and if my internet disconnected for even a second for some reason (happened only once luckily), well I was pooped on.

If you really want to know if your computer will handle the game then wait for release and ask people with similar hardware how the game runs for them.

Of course you should ask multiple people because some may have a different desktop environment which destroys performance in games.

As far as "a lot of things going on, on the screen". . . Really - more than what's happening in large battle in Mount and Blade?? . . I don't think so.

Gotta 3770K, I think I'll be a-OK.

Doubt my 2500k will have trouble with this. What surprises me though is the low requirements on the graphics deparment. A 450 can barely get decent fps on maxed out FC2 on 1080p, and that's a 4 year old game running on an older version of the same engine. Something's up here, and when you couple it with the high CPU requirement, it reeks of consolitis.
