Dark Souls Remastered PC Version?? Is it necessary ?

I get why for consoles, buy why PC... its clear you can ALREADY play DS Prepare to Die Edition in 4k with an easy DsFix.

Other than 6 player multiplayer? how much better can this remastered version be? negligible, unless there is actual new content?

If they removed the 512MB VRAM limit, they can definitely upgrade the textures beyond what modders were able to do with the original. It will most likely be a half-ass effort though and not a proper remaster.

It's not just about the resolution. 4K doesn't mean much when the textures are all shit.

Think DS3-level graphics update. I definitely want that.

although, the DC3 texture rumor upgrade, 6 player mp, and extra 50% discount for original DS Steam owners, makes it a tad more worthwhile.

1. If they're doing a remaster for PS4 and X1, might as well do it for PC too. Not a lot of extra work to add one more platform.
2. The PtD PC version is extremely dated and broken without mods
3. With mods the PtD PC version is better, but still broken.
4. DS is an awesome game

So IMO it's totally worth it, but I really like Dark Souls games, so I'll take a better version even if it's only a small improvement to bring it up to 2018 standards. I really doubt the graphics will get better, higher-res textures maybe, but I think this is more of an engine update. Seems like they might be pulling it into the DS3 engine since they are allowing more players in a world at once. I doubt they will go through the effort of redoing the models. They will probably just get it working in the DS3 engine and then export the textures to 4K.

It's really all about that 60fps without breaking the game in places. I'll take it.

No. Those resources should've been spent on fixing the prepare to die edition of the game considering its all but unplayable by normal means. Its nearly impossible to get the game running even with mods and other third party tools...

I would love that too just to remove the Chromatic aberration. Sadly, Sony is less welcoming putting their games on PC than Microsoft.

If the visual update is substantial and they finish Lost Izalith (they ran out of time/funding during the initial development cycle so they just left this zone unfinished), I'd gladly pay full price for it. Dark Souls 1 is one of the best games ever made.
