Is there a way to clear out the bios and reinstall it via mainboard cd?

Refer to your motherboard manual (online if you have to) and use the clear cmos jumper/button to clear your bios. And download the latest bios from the manufacturer, don't use an old one...

You can't literally clear out a bios. You can either restore default settings by clearing the RTC (involves removing system power and battery, replacing a jumper for 10 seconds, then putting the battery and power back in) or by setting the default options from in the bios using the option. Updating the bios will also install with default settings, however some options may change or be in different areas.
