I vote for Valve. I have the utmost respect for Blizzard's past work but when it comes down to it I am an FPS man and Valve makes great FPS.

valve but i am probably biased on this since i dont like rts games (which is what blizz mostly makes) while i love fps (which is the only genre valve has done in its lifetime).

I agree. Plus the modding community for Valve's games gets you all that extra content for free. It's a no brainer!

But seriously, how can you compare these two companies ? Both supports gamers very good. But one company makes only FPS and the other makes only RTS. Then why this polling? This is perfect example of Apples and Oranges.

Blizzard has been making amazing games for longer. Valve just dont have the track record Blizzard do yet.

Incidentally, taking the average GS scores of their main games blizzard gets 8.91, Valve get 8.92. Guess Valve marginally take it according to GS :)

i think that valve is better because of their customer service, first of all they don't have ONE game, yeah i mean that ONE game is the most played game ever but still... second, valve usually has some weekend discounts, and this is also usually on some of their big titles like L4D, and the list goes on... third, valve does not make you pay a monthly fee, i know MMORPG's are different and they need more maintenance but still. The amount of money Blizzard has made could atleast make them cut the fee in half...

Blizzard. At least they show us what they're doing and they let tiny bits of info to float around, instead of guarding their game(s) like they're the secret of the kitchen-made atomic bomb.

I own all Blizzard games (Yes, even Rock and Roll racing) but I'd have to give my vote to Valve. Not only are they releasing interesting and fun games but they are pushing digital distribution in a way that is changing the face of PC Gaming. I for one support this change and can't wait to see what the future looks like.

[QUOTE="Kolossi"]

Ive been playing only one game from Blizzard, but 13 Valve's games.

So my vote goes for Valve.

I personally think there are only 5 Valve games. Everything else is an add-on or MOD thats gone commercial. HL1, HL2, TF2, Portal, L4D. On the PC Blizzard, in my count mind you, has 9 full on seperate games since 1992ish.

I like RTS more than FPS, but I hate fantasy more than anything... so I have to go with Valve on this one But I'm not really that interested in Valves games, so it was hard to vote for them

Blizzard- Greedy, has only ever made one game that I enjoyed (Starcraft), and seems to have given up on trying to maintain the illusion that they care about their customers.

Valve- Pushing new and innovative ideas, constantly offering sales or amazing deals (Orange Box anyone?), offers incredible insight into the game-making process with their developer commentary, and genuinely cares about treating the customers with respect and gratitude.

Doesn't seem like that tough a choice to me...

well if each campaign is as long as a full game whats the problem...multiplayer will be the same no matter which one you buy. also blizz give tons of "DLC" for WoW in the form of patches. they add new dungeons and other things

Let's come back in 3 years or so and see how many people are still playing Starcraft II two years after its release versus how many people are still playing anything from Orange Box two years after that game's release. :P

Blizzard games always have a lot of replay value in terms of multiplayer; that has long been one of their biggest strengths. Of course, I'm one of the few people who found Half-Life 2 completely dull and boring. I did enjoy Portal, but there was a reason they just threw it in with another game and that is that nobody in their right mind would pay much money for such a short game that they are probably only going to play through once, regardless of how good it may be. As far as them throwing in additional "episodes" of Half-Life 2 in Orange Box, well, I guess it's kind of cute that they can somewhat arbitrarily divide the game up into chunks and call them different games to make it look like you are getting more. Whatever. Of course then someone is going to say, "Well, at least they didn't charge for those additional 'episodes.' " I've already had that discussion elsewhere in regards to Starcraft II and I'm not going to go over all of that again here.

I love blizzard. I loved the games they made during my childhood years, warcraft2, starcraft, diablo. I haven't played a blizzard game in a while now, most of my game I play are off steam. Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 will be amazing and I will get them, but it's Valve's time to shine now on the PC. Blizzard had it's golden era now it's time for Valve to pave the road.

I'm voting Valve...mainly because I just finished Episode 2 lately but also I like FPSes more than RTSes. Still very close. Along with Bioware these are my favourite game developers.

I think Valve are a lot more community friendly.

Steam is great, their games are great, the community is great. :D
