Wasn't Crysis quad core optimized? Well the unreal 3 is multi-core optimized for sure. Don't forget that the quad cores give superior performance even without the game being optimized for it. If you are running some apps besides the game at least which we all are if you think about virus protection and such. Not to mention that this is looking like the future for processors.

Zero games support quad core at this time. Not until Directx 11 comes out with games using Directx 11.

Multithread does not equal quad core. Thanks for your Google efforts though

The only game that uses a quad core efficiently is Supreme Commander, GTA 4 doesn't use a quad core, Assassin's Creed doesn't, Lost Planet doesn't, Crysis no way.

It'll be a while before any consumer-level application starts to support all 4 cores. With gaming, for instance, the need really isn't there - the bottleneck is rendering graphics, which is 98% a graphics card function. The second most important consideration for gaming is lots of RAM (again, for handling graphics), and a distant third place is the CPU.

It's not that a quad core won't run any game better - it probably will. But it's because the quad core is a superior processor - not because it necessarily has four cores.

A modern graphics card is the equivalent of an entire pc of only a few years back mounted on a card. It's an intensely specialized, powerful, dedicated engine. I'd put my emphasis there.
