I tried playing surgeon simulator 2013 the other day and I found that I can't actually control all the fingers at the same time. Looking up the issues it would seem that the only way to fix it is to get an non ancient keyboard.

so while I'm in the market for a keyboard I was wondering if you guys knew any good ones for gaming. I was looking into some mechanical keyboards, but I don't really know if expensive ones are actually worth it

I bought my Qpad mk-80 mechanical keyboard a couple of days ago and I love it. Its a standard qwerty keyboard without any nonessencial keys that feels really responsive and sturdy, but is quite heavy (I got it placed on my lap since Im playing on the living room couch). The illuminated keys is also a nice plus when playing in total dakness.

The only downside is the price, but you can also get the cheaper mk-50 that lacks illuminated keys.

Not gaming-specific, but just about any new usb keyboard should let you use many multiple keys at once. A basic one, such as a Logitech, you can get for $10 to $15 at WalMart.

I like the Ducky mechanical keyboards. They're simple and inexpensive but well constructed, and you can get almost any color microswitches (red are great for gaming, blue are great for typing, black and brown are good compromises).

+1. It will cost you a bit more than your traditional keyboard but it is definitely worth the investment.

Any nkro with brown switches would be good or go to a shop to get a feel first.

There's no such thing as a gaming keyboard. The mechanical keybaords aren't any better for gaming than rubberdomes, possibly even worse.. The expensive rubber dome "gaming" keyboards are just normal keyboards with a bunch of useless features and stupid designs. Look at the Logitech keyboards with their stupid little lcd screens, who needs that when you're sitting in front of a high resolution monitor.

Buy a mechanical keyboard if you don't want to replace your keyboard within the next ten years, because the microswitches will definitely last longer than rubber domes. Otherwise just buy any cheap keyboard with anti-ghosting and it will work equally as well for video games.
