Would currently go for a 1440P or 1600P monitor and wait for 4K to mature a bit, unless you have to have the latest tech. I hope you are running SLI/Tri SLI or Crossfire/Tri Crossfire.

This, current single gpu would be a joke for 60+FPS.

I'd say just go 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 and don't look back.

Also won't it require new ports or an upgrading of the current DVI/HDMI and Displayport ports? Or are they capable of 60Hz at that res?

I know new tech can be very confusing at times.....but all the 4K fuss is quite simple and doable.....the problem at the moment is....money.

Here's an example of what you can actually do today:

and Video example of battlefield3:

I am sick of my 1920X1200 Samsung......but getting a U3011 seems like throwing money out of the window.

Thanks for the BF3 video on 4K... which also shows one of the issues I have with higher resolution. From time to time there are games like this that don't let you change the HUD size, so when playing on Native resolution, the HUD is so tiny that you have to squint your eyes to even see it. It's already happening on 2560x1440... on 4K... jeez.. Also for the video, i viewed it at work, so integrated graphics chip, and the video just comes out black with only the afterburner slightly visible when viewing it on 'Original".

I know HDMI 2.0 can do 4k res at 60Hz.
