This thread was in "Legacy Platforms" and I found it pretty interesting.
1) Wipeout for PS1. I actually liked the soundtrack more then the game itself. It's the first game I remember to even have a licenced soundtrack, with the exception of "Make your own Crappola" Sega CD games.
2) GTA: Vice City aka VH1's I Heart the 80s. Managing to put Laura Branigan and Debbie Gibson in a video game about selling drugs
and stealing cars is just genius. They even threw a track (or 2?) from the Scarface soundtrack.
3) Final Fantasy 6. Pretty amazing what someone can do on cart.
the original Diablo
the original Quake
Here are some awesome links to some of the original Quake music. Great stuff, brings back memories, it was a terrifying game! Enjoy

there you go, if u never experienced this stuff before, be enlightened, if u have these will bring back memories.
1) DOOM II (dark and blood-pumping, perfect for the atmosphere)
2)Witcher (depends on the time of the game, could be calm or heavy and blood-pumping but it all fits so perfectly and is so enjoyable it adds a a depth all its own to the game)
3) Heretic (See doom)
The Elder Scrolls series has some great music.
Occasionally the Morrowind theme runs through my head, but the Oblivion one was nice and epic too (reminds me of LOTR).
Although Jonathan Coulton's Still Alive from Portal definitely has the soft spot in the hearts of thousands :P
[QUOTE="lordlors"]Shadow of the Colossus
Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross
Super Mario Galaxy
Okami
Legend of Zelda series
Final Fantasy series
The World Ends With You
The Witcher
Lach0121
yeah mario and zelda definately im glad you mentioned them good choices
Super Mario Galaxy has epic music i even bought its OST from Play-Asia. You should also definitely hear Shadow of the Colossus OST for heavily EPIC music and Okami OST for beautiful ETHNIC (Japanese) music.

Morrowind and Halo were pretty awsome soundtracks.I also really enjoyed Civilization 4 BT's music, very nice background stuff.
HL 2 had some sweet music at the perfect moments, Portal !!! and i looooveee the music from the battlefield series
Mafia had some absolutely brilliant music, especially when you entered Chinatown! Gta: Vice City, that was also superb, but then again if you don't love 80s music then maybe not.
Also, the Castlevania series; Dawn of Sorrow in my case, has some awesome traditional game music. Repetative only to the point that you remember it. It sits in the background like the pretty, quiet girl at school, and when you notice it, you remember why you liked it in the first place. Perfect.
