I would have to say Mass Effect 2, since I can't recall any PC game(whether multiplat or exclusive) that had my 100% attention within the first 10 minutes. What about you guys? What are your favorites? (And please, let's keep it within games that are available on the PC platform.)

Easy. The opening movie for The Witcher, by a large margin.

Agreed. It took the developer over a year to engineer this intro cinematic, which includes full motion-capture and real swordplay.

I will second the Witcher Intro. I'm reading the book "The Last Wish" so it was pretty cool reading the part that they made the intro from. Another intro I really like is the Dawn of War 2 intro. I have yet to start the Mass Effect series.

Red Alert 2 did have a cool intro, I remember Starcraft had a pretty sweet intro as well... Nothing else is coming to me atm, oh well :\

Left 4 Dead 2 has a pretty sick intro as well.

I'll go with The Witcher, as well. I read The Last Wish. It is a pretty fun read if you like the game. It's kind of a like a book of old fashioned fairy tales, with an adult sense of humor.

I'll agree with Mass Effect 2. I just played through it for the first time last week and at the end of the intro sequence I actually had to literally say out loud to myself, "Wow, that was really cool."

Indigo Prophecy. Game starts with a cinematic of you killing a guy in a diner restroom, then gives you control as a cop gets up from his meal outside and begins to walk towatrds the restroom.

ME2 was good.

Oblivion, I thought was fantastic, course I am biased towards Patrick Stewart.

The Witcher was good as well.

The Witcher was one of the better ones. Freelancer was great, But best I have to give to Sins of a Solar Empire nothing fancy but was clever and dramatic. Doing more with less always gets you a few brownie points in my book. :)

I am an old timer, so this one holds a very special place in my gaming life. This intro (for it's time) was frighteningly good:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X3GD0UnBCk(Mechwarrior 2)

Half-life's opening is the gold standard. So many games, on all platforms, have done something similar which have obviousily been inspired from the tram ride into Black Mesa. Just off my head, recent games Red Dead Revolver and Batman AA have done something similar.

As for intro videos, Dawn of War 1 is always at the top of my list

as for the start of the actual game - Half-Life 2 usually springs to mind, Half Life 1's was also great.

I really liked Dawn of War 2's intro video. Shame about the rest of the game being so mediocre really. The intro of Mass Effect 2 was fantastic as well. And then there's Fallout, Devil May Cry 3 (What? The intro for DMC3 was sweeeeeeeeet), Borderlands (I have a weak-spot for any game that uses Cage The Elephant for it's intro), The Chronicles of Riddick (both of them had great intros). And one that I always forget about until I go to play the game and forgot to skip it is Left4Dead2. That's a DAMN GOOD intro movie :D
