So, $400 is my budget when it comes to wasting money on myself. In a few months maybe I could get it up to $700, but it's $400 atm and I'm in the splurging mood. I looked around at the Black Friday deals and the $400 featured on Yahoo had some pretty bad reviews, mostly about the feel and quality of the keyboard and mouse area.

I don't have unrealistic expectations, it's just $400. Wondering what the best laptop possible is out there at that price point.

If you don't mind getting a refurb, the K53TA is definitely the best bang for you buck in your price range.

It's far better than both laptops. Both of the Best Buy laptops have no dedicated GPU so games will run very poorly on them.

Your sample size is not valid.

Get laptop warranty for at least 2 years.
