I thought my card was ok for DX11 but i noticed that i couldn't get the very high textures in DAO2 because it said I needed compatible hardware for it. (i have the dx 11 version installed). Sometime down the road I will probably wanna upgrade this. Anyone know any good same level or better cards that support dx 11?

HD4800 series is DX10. You need an HD5000 series or higher for DX11.

Well, there are plenty DX11 cards out right now that can replace a 4800 series card. The major factors that determine whether you should or not, though, are 1) what 4800 series card you have, and 2) your budget for the upgrade.

lol, don't even bother upgrading your GPU for DA2, that game is a BIG disappointment.

Yeah I guess your right. My budget at the moment is pretty much 0 since i'm kinda jobless. But it's on my list for PC upgrades for the future. I got a SAPPHIRE Vapor-X Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit

That's a pretty awesome card. It performs on par with an HD 5850. You really shouldn't need to upgrade unless you really find it necessary to have DX11. Most games that are DX11 don't even use the API's features well anyway.

I've seen some tests showing the differences between DX 10 and DX 11 and they are almost unnoticeable. I think it's a poor excuse from the developers to require a DX 11 card for a high resolution texture option.

The current equivilent is a 6850. You will be fine for a year or two. When games really start taking advantage of DX 11 then it will start to feel dated.

A 6850 is a good deal faster than a 4890. A 5830 is almost dead even with a 4890.

yeah the 5830 has a slight edge in functionality and profroms better in some games but beyond that.
