I am a bit strapped for cash and I want to build an AMD Overclocked machine for my 2nd rig.

I would go for Phenom II X4 940 (Can save some cash with DDR2), or if you've got a little more, Phenom II X4 955 and DDR3.

Thanks for the reply, i like the 955. any suggestions for a aftermarket fan/heatsink and a mobo that can overclock very well?

I have the XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 for my overclocked x3. it runs at about 53 under load.

I'm not too familiar with AM3 motherboards that are good overclockers, but for an aftermarket heatsink, I would recommend the Scythe Mugen 2, it's easily one of the top 3 air coolers out there and it's only $36, so it's a steal.
