The q6600 is great because of it's ability to be overclocked high. The 6000 is alright but it cannot match the q6600 for anything. They also don't overclock as well as the q6600.

Unless you already have the mobo, buying an amd cpu is flat out retarded.

Well I have An X2 6000 and its great It has no problems even with Crysis on very high, I can encode a dvd around 15 minutes. A E6600 stock speeds with X26000 stock speeds they are pretty close. And since a Q6600 is the same as an E6600 besides the extra two cores that wont be fully used for another year or two(that everygame will use all four cores) The X2 6000 holds it own.

I am in the same boat. I want to upgrade my amd4200+x2@2.2 to somthing better. I was thinking about the 6400x2 as they now come with heatsink and fan. Clocked at 3.2 stock vs 6000x2 @3.0. All amd x2 cpu's are pretty good at reaching 3mhz with some oc-ing. My 4200 can reach 3 on air but with stockair all cpu's have a hard time reaching above 3.2 onless u have water or a very good aftermarket cooler. This is one of the plusses(might be the only one) to amd cpu's in the 4000+ to 6000(the 6400x2 is alrighty 3.2. the price is close for the 6000 and 6400 at around 200$ish or less. The 5600 x2 is a 65nm but still has a problem going over 3.2 on stock air. Pick what u want but this is what u have to work with. If u don't want to mess with oc like me mabey the 6000 or 6400 will do u well but with that said its only specs and if u don't want to upgrade fully to intell what choice do u have at this point.

Why would you pay more for inferior products? You're not really retarded though, just special in your own way. Ten dollars for a 200 mhz overclock? ouch.

Performs better and overclocks better, along with lower power consumption to boot!

So maybe not retarded, but you'd have to have a fetish for amd... :P

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115037 definitely. Unless you already have an AMD mobo, then get this. It can hit 4GHz fairly easily.

Of course its good. But for $10 you can increase your power by 20%. And for another $10 another 20%! It never ends you just need to decide what you want to spend and not go over.

I've got that CPU and people saying that it sucks is bull.

It's a good CPU and does me fine, you wouldn't even notice the difference between that and the Q6600 or whatever it called

the 5000+ black edition is just as fast and cheaper, I was going to buy a 6000+ but a friend of mine told me that the 5000+ black edition pretty much matches his, and it does and I will tell you why, we have the same pc strait down to the case, the only thing different is his processor and we get almost the same 3d mark score and play at the same settings in games.

Yep, you certainly are. ;)

If you already have an AM2 motherboard, then go for a Phenom X4/X3. Otherwise, go for an Intel Core 2.
