Why 2700K when you can get a 3770K or even a 4770K? In regards to waiting .... what are you using now?

You can stay with that CPU for the next few years. If you change it, you won't get a noticeable upgrade at all.

Then for sure keep it. The next generation consoles are using weak ass octo cores (six cores for gaming rumored) clocked at 1.6ghz (your CPU blows them out of the water). You will be good for years to come

just keep it for now, and I assume you've already overclocked it? if not, get a CPU cooler before

There is no reason to be upgrading from a 2700k.

i upgraded from a 2600k (clocked at 4.7ghz) to a 4770k (best stable clock I can run at is 4.5ghz). I can tell you don't bother to upgrade, you won't see more then 5-10% speed differences, maybe even less. I actually read benchmarks before buying it and knew speed was about in this area but ran my own tests and they were spot on exactly. Even if you buy a cheaper <200 dollar motherboard, the cpu will still cost you over 300 dollars, thats 500-600 dollars plus taxes for 5%-10% speed difference. thats not worth it. I upgraded not for any improvement, i needed a second pc, and couldn't find anywhere to buy another second generation for a cheap price so i just bought the 4th generation for my second pc. I would have definately bought another 2600k if I could have found one for cheap enough since I had an extra motherboard for it.

^ if you could use your gen 2 motherboard, i would maybe say do it, but the fact it uses different socket type, and forces you to change motherboards, that breaks the deal. wait maybe till intel or amd come out with some cpus that really make a difference. gen 2 is still holding up like a champ
