I plan on starting PC gaming soon but instead of starting by building my own rig, i want to buy my own dirt cheap PC sothat i can buy right away, play right away, and upgrade later.

so, i found this PC, the cheapest on newegg

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883103228

from the reviews, they said that it works decently for gaming so i'm wondering if it will work well for PC games (i really don't care about high settings or whatever they are).

if it is decent, what parts should i upgrade in the future?

That pc will not do well with games and will not be upgradable you will need to spend atleast 600 for a decent gaming rig.

That machine is going to have trouble running anything new even at low settings. Also it's non upgradeable, save at least $700 then go for PC gaming, this machine will not cut it all.

I was thinking of getting that cute thing to replace the family PC, only because it will be nice and slow/cool/low power. Not a good idea for a "gaming PC" :|

It has to be. Wow.

Expect to pay at least $650+ for a new rig and $400 if you already have a good case, PSU, CD-drive, and possibly HDD. And that's for a budget build.

Well I bought a pc, for around 250$. e5300 g41 gigabyte motherboard 2 gigs of ram 350watt psu (didn't come with a hd) Some random case. Pretty good deal for 250$, just add a videocard to this for 100$ more 350$ + 50$ hd. And you can game pretty well. Though don't expect to upgrade this much, lga 775 is a dead socket, but it ocs to 4.0 ghz without an insane amount of hassle.

Also that thing you mentioned, I actually like it quite a bit. Looks decent for a htpc, though uh that won't game... at all. I have a netbook with similar specs, it can run games from 04 fine.

Here is basically what that cpu is: 1.2ghz pentium 4 celeron. Not a very fast thing.

Yup it's a dead socket, but you can't go wrong with a Core 2 Duo for gaming if you don't have much money. Thinking of swapping to a Q9400 myself.

$290 is the cheapest I could go, literally, on newegg, without choosing a product with really bad reviews, and allowing you to game!

Can't believe I did this lol:

Probably so. That's why I usually ask a question and wait for a response. Some people make a post and never some back. I didn't even look to see if he responded this time though =P

This must be a joke, you need at least $500 to build a low end gaming rig. This little thing won't cut it.

a good amount of reviews said it could game and me being a complete noob to PC's, thought that it would actually last for a while.

thanks to the guy came up with the 290 build, something ican actually afford.

no if you all will excuse me...

Seriously... My laptop cost over 650$ and it only has 2.2ghz and a ATI Radeon HD mobility 4650... I wish I had the choice of getting a desktop =( I needed a laptop for space reasons though.

Welcome. Should be able to run majority games on medium or better which is rediculous, but people have got used to it in todays gaming climate where hardware trumps graphics!

You could get something that cheap just make sure it's a regular ATX case so you can fit a video card later, stick with integrated graphics like AMD 785G and i'm sure you could play older games fine.
