If you had a computer with a 1 terabyte hard drive and wanted more space for games and stuff, would you get a new internal drive or just get an external drive? If you play games from an external hard drive will the games run just a fast and smooth as if you were playing them from an internal hard drive?

Less most of the time. An internal hard drive is just the hard drive itself, whereas an external hard drive is the hard drive plus the enclosure, interface, and power supply (if necessary). An external hard drive is the same kind of drive as an internal hard drive, it just happens to be inside of an enclosure instead of in your computer.

Whats wrong? I used to play external just fine. Maybe skryim with 1000x mods can pose to be a problem with load times.

This. I probably mentioned this on here many times already, but I ripped my external drive's enclosure and kept the drive (obviously) and the powered usb part so that I can hot swap another drive.

Some motherboards have external SATA ports for external SATA hard drives. Older, pre-DRM games should run fine from them. I wouldn't bother if the external hard drive hooked up via USB2.

Internal, costs less, perform better.
