But in all seriousness you should be able to play any game on low/medium settings.

@Bikouchu35: I could upgrade it, and I recently purchased it, so I would like to see what it can do at its current specifications. It can easily run Skyrim on ultra high settings with graphics mods. That was its first gaming test.

@BranKetra: Hello.

You have a very powerful CPU combined with a very weak GPU.

GT 730 is a Kepler or even Fermi based low end GPU which means previous generation(s) low end GPU.

There is a possibility even your CPU's GPU (HD 530) to be more powerful than GT 730.

Desktop GPU Performance Hierarchy Table (Tom's Hardware)

Nvidia GeForceAMD RadeonIntel
GTX Titan ZR9 295X2
Titan X, 980 TiHD 7990, R9 Fury X

8800 GTS 640 MB, 9600 GT, GT 240 (GDDR5)HD 2900 XT, HD 3870, HD 5570 (GDDR5), HD 6570 (GDDR5)

So according to numbers from various sites like Tom's Hardware, HD 530 could be even more powerful.

This chart shows that HD 530 is 1-2 tiers higher than GT 730. ps: They consider that a difference of 3 tiers and higher can justify a GPU purchase.

I posted this in order to show you how weak is the GPU your PC has and how much your gaming experience will be improved if you buy a lets say GTX750ti or more.

But since you ask for some games, I found a GT 730 review, that its testing some games:

Also...

New generation GPUs are coming soonâ„¢.

If I were you, I would wait a bit for the new GPUs to come and then upgrade to a far better GPU.

You can't play Black Ops 3 or BF4 but you could easy play CS GO, DOTA2, LoL, GTA5 - source:

http://www.techporn.ph/asus-geforce-gt-730-silent-graphics-card-review/

You can search any game on YouTube with your GPU and just checkout the performance and settings for yourself - for example: "Watch Dogs GT730"

Your CPU is great - what's holding you down is the GPU.

@Coseniath: That link you posted is to a Zotac GT 730 1 GB. I should clarify. Mine is a Gigabyte GT 730 with 2048 MB of memory.

Doesn't really change its performance.

@PredatorRules: I figured that the GPU is holding it back from my initial purchase.

Is there any GPU that folks would recommend for an upgrade?

This^

Zotac's GT730 might have a little more performance if Gigabyte's version you have is not GDDR5 (Zotac has GDDR5).

@BranKetra: At the moment I would recommend you to wait for Pascal (next gen microarchitecture) which will bring a lot more performance for the same money.

If you can't wait, you can tell us what's your budget for a new GPU is (case and PSU info would help a lot too) and we will suggest you what to buy.

This is the wisest choice at the moment.

Next week in GTC (GPU Technology Conference April 4-7), Nvidia is rumored to show some Pascal, so we might get an idea of what to expect and if it deserves to wait or not.

Depends on your budget limit, I would get 970 / 390 or even 980Ti if you've got the money for it.

I also could recommend on lower tiers GPUs like the 750Ti, 950 and 960 / 380X

Any of the GPUs I've mentioned apply for real GPU power upgrade - it's all about the budget.

I would also suggest to wait for Pascal / Polaris / Greenland if it's going to be released soon.

Most 7th gen games.

At 720p you can play at high+ settings. I have this card in my closet. I used it temporarily on an older rig. I was able to max DmC at 720p with it.

@Gaming-Planet: Thank you. Your story helps. I have been playing Team Fortress 2 will almost everything on high settings at 1920 x 1080, and it has been running smoothly.

Before you go buying a highend videocard.. How good is that PSU of yours? A next gen GTX 1050 or 1060 is a major step up from what you currently have. These will probably also have much lower PSU requirements than 1070 and above. If it is a weak one, then perhaps GTX 1050 will be the best without the need for more upgrades. Only time will tell though.

Today, I opened my PC case to see the wattage, and it read 350W. I had an extra PSU from a broken PC, so I replaced it with that one. It is a Corsair 750W power supply.

Then you are good to go with a powerful GPU... And powerhungry.

Not The Witcher 3 and later. The GTX 660m of my laptop is equivalent to a desktop HD 5770 (which is much better than the GT 730) and it cannot run TW3 at lowest settings without the framerates dipping into the teens. Forget more recent games.

My kid's PC has a GT 730 (GDDR5). I've run Crysis and Warhead on the GT 730 at Medium-High settings with a resolution of 1440x900 and framerates generally in the 30 to 40 fps range.
