The only thing needed to upgrade here is your GPU. High end GPUs will be overkill at 1080p with your current monitor, a 1440p would be a nice upgrade to suit either a GTX 1080 or 1080 TI.

@MonsieurX: i was looking for a 1080ti but I can't find them in Stock. Is the 1080ti a lot more powerful than the 1080? Also, what kind of monitor specs would you recommend? I've heard of BenQ, are they really good?

About 20% more powerful for 4k content. Difference should be less at lower resolutions.

If you play FPS,you might want to consider a 1440p 144hz monitor like the Asus PG279Q ROG Swift or Acer Predator XB271HUA. Otherwise, aim for 1440p,IPS panel and low response time.

Check individual monitor models for reviews instead of manufacturers

@MonsieurX: is it worth running games at 4k currently? Seems like the 4k versions of the monitors you listed only are 60hz. I do play some fps games like overwatch. I also have a Samsung ks8000 that's 4k HDR+. Is that decent for gaming? I use it for 4k streaming movies from Netflix
