I’m upgrading from my PS4 to my first gaming pc, I plan on building it on my own. I plan to play mostly Ark and Smite for right now. My budget is around $1-$1.5k. Does anyone have any good build recommendations or links? I’ve been researching which gpu I need and I really like the gtx 1080 but i dont know if that will suit me or not.

Well ATM gpu and ram prices are through the roof. Your going to pay like 2-3x the amount that you would have a year ago on those two items. And gpu's are scarce....

To answer your question no you dont need a GTX 1080 to run those games. a GTX 1060 is enough for those games. Your best bet to get into PC gaming ATM without having pay through the roof on those items and not have to fight and wait for a gpu is to buy a prebuilt gaming pc.

Here are a few quick options

$750

$900

$1400

You picked pretty much the worst time in history to build your first PC.

-Skyrocketing video card prices due to cryptocurrency mining

-Intel is selling CPUs with major security flaws. The fixes cause massive slowdown

-RAM and SSD prices are through the roof

The thing is totally overblown, Intel, AMD, ARM and others are affected by one or both issues. Microsoft undid intel half way done patch and performance issues are not a real issue.

You're still getting ripped off, by at least $100, but it's within your budget.

Sorry for not knowing, but I can find it on google. But what’s the difference between a founders edition gpu and any other gpu?

@dans74777: founders edition is nothing more than a reference card that Nvidia normally releases with the launch of a new GPU. Their nothing special.... Also note that you cant buy that GTX 1080 founders edition online but you have to physically go a best buy and buy and pick it up if they have them in stock. Like I stated earlier gpu's are scarce. All because of all the mining craze.

Can't agree on you on that one, for a PC Gamer you're unaffected by this fixes, not during gaming anyhow.
