Is that because of the "drowning" paragraph?

The whole damn song. The narrator is about to lose it, that's the 'I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord."

Let's see if I can remember this off the top of my head.

If you told me you were drowning, I would not lend a hand. I've seen your face before my 'friend' but I don't know if you know who I am. I was there and I saw what you did, saw it with my own two eyes. So you can wipe off that grin, I know where you've been, and it's all been a pack of lies.

He never specifies what was witnessed, but it was something traumatic because:

Yes, I remember don't worry, how could I ever forget? It was the first time, the last time we ever met. I know the reason why you keep your silence up...you don't fool me. The pain doesn't show, but the hurt still grows, it's no stranger to you and me.

Whatever he saw the other person do, was traumatic enough that he still suffers from it.

Take on Me is great, as is damn near anything by Journey or Hall & Oates. The one that's been stuck in my head as of late, though...

Originally by Toto, obviously. But this version is amazing.

Bless the rains...

Haha, I downloaded that song after watching A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 (along with "Hands on Me" by Sinead O'Connor. The lyrics kinda suck though. I love lots of mainstream 80s pop, especially a-ha. Their first 3 albums were bomb and their bond theme is just the bee's knees!

Man, I could go on forever, so I'm just going to list ten in no particular order (and for variety sake, I'm only posting one song per artist):

1. Like A Prayer-Madonna

2. Running Up That Hill-Kate Bush

3. When Doves Cry-Prince

4. Time After Time-Cyndi Lauper

5. Sweet Child O' Mine-Guns N' Roses

6. These Dreams-Heart

7. Just Like Heaven-The Cure

8. Self Control-Laura Branigan

9. Total Eclipse of the Heart-Bonnie Tyler

10. Atmosphere-Joy Division

Like I said, I could list so many, but these are the ones I'll go with for now.

Well, since I have a weird need to link all my songs, more than 10 would be too much work.  :P

But then again, I did link every one of my top 100 songs.

1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFpregq5eJ4

The Emperor's New Clothes - Sinead O'Connor (a stark perfect song and Sinead with her famous "tape on foot" War dance at the end)

-------------------------------------------------------

2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxXfu-Kbtbc

Waterfront - Simple Minds (before their worldwide success with "Don't You (Forget about me)" there was this soaringly beautiful song that was better)

----------------------------------------------------------

3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZt7J0iaUD0

Luka - Suzanne Vega (great song about child abuse)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=noXYiNo5TOo

Birthday - The Sugarcubes (this is the song that put Bjork's extraordinary voice on the worldwide stage, seems a simple song til you read the twisted lyrics ;) )

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PaoLy7PHwk

Fight the Power - Public Enemy (even as a white guy I can appreciate great music, this was when rap was good)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wD6Pq0bSMPo

She Bangs the Drums - The Stone Roses (from one of the greatest albums in music history)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQSpJfpVHmg

Atmosphere - Joy Division (one of the most chillingly beautiful songs ever made, set to a heartbeat and sung by a guy who would shortly after commit suicide)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1wg1DNHbNU

Once in a Lifetime - The Talking Heads (absolute classic, both song and video!)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0T6F3hxRqsQ

Silver - Echo and the Bunnymen (beautiful song, I saw these guys in the late 1980's, best concert I've ever seen)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snsTmi9N9Gs

Open Your Heart - Madonna (Madonna's best dance song of the 1980's)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WDly1Oc_P4

Destination Unknown - Missing Persons (this song perfectly captures the 1980's, both song and video, Dale Bozzio was probably one of the inspirations for Lady Gaga)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gti22zo6sm0

All that Money Wants - Psychedelic Furs (not the most well-known Furs song, but my favorite and one of the best at encompassing what the band was about)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOg5VxrRTi0

Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran (just one of those great songs that personifies the 1980's and MTV that decade)

_________________________________________________________

Well, theres a bunch of great songs, and they aren't necessarly in order despite the numbers.

Just wish I knew how to change the link name to the songs name :( , coulda saved some space.

Iron Maiden - Two Minutes to Midnight, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Infinite Dreams, Flash of the Blade, The Evil That Men Do
