Back in February, WWE veteran Kofi Kingston replaced wrestler Mustafa Ali in a six man title elimination match last month due to Ali having a legitimate injury requiring him to miss the match. During the match, while he was booked to lose to the champion, his performance was praised and resulted in fans wanting to see him get a chance at holding the championship.
Due to his performance, Kofi was booked to fight the champion in a one on one match, but WWE Chairman Vince McMahon replaced him and then went through several weeks of denying him a chance to get a championship match due to his opinion that Kofi is a “B+” player. #kofimania became a trend to demand that he wrestles for the belt in Wrestlemania in April. Despite that, Vince continued to deny him in numerous ways, to a chorus of boos every week.
Just when anybody that doesn’t know how storylines work thought Vince was really going to screw Kofi out of the match (and even had a few people accuse him of racism, since Kofi is black), people noticed that an advertisement was playing on social media that was pretty much telling them that Vince was full of it and Kofi is getting his match:
@TrueKofi don’t be upset, @WWE confirm that you are in @WrestleMania@WWEDanielBryan@FightOwensFight@TripleH@VinceMcMahon#Kofimania#kofivsbryan#wrestlemania35#wwepic.twitter.com/VE9kDhLHhV

But we can’t let kayfabe (the storyline) die, so Kofi comes to the rescue with this reply tweet:
Last week the gauntlet match was also advertised to kick off the show. It did not. Vince has been messing with us for a while now. Wouldn’t be surprised if this was just more of the same. https://t.co/txc08S3aEZ

I guess they had to let the story go on one way or another. On another note, I’ll be going this year (last went in 2011 when it was in Atlanta) and hope that it’s a decent show this year.
