Solid Support for Legal Marijuana

From the article:

As more and more states consider relaxing their marijuana laws, a majority of Americans said they favor laws allowing adults to buy small quantities of marijuana from state-licensed businesses, according to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll released early Tuesday.

The poll found that 55% said they favor allowing regulated businesses to sell marijuana, with nearly a quarter saying they actively support the measure. Another quarter said they oppose the measure but have not actively worked to have it overturned, and about one in five said they actively oppose it.

Young people overwhelmingly favor legalizing marijuana, with nearly three-quarters of those aged 18-34 saying they support changing the law. Of those aged 35-49, just over half said they favored it, compared to 49% of those aged 50-64 and 38% of those aged 65 and older.

---------------------------------------------------

Nothing shocking, old people continue to oppose Marihuana legalization. I guess they need to die.

No, just that the older, more conservative group that's holding us all back socially needs to die off.

No, just that the older, more conservative group that's holding us all back socially needs to die off.

...because you disagree with them?

I'm for decriminalization of all drugs.

If marijuana becomes legal I want it treated like alcohol where you go to jail if you consume it in public.

Because there's a fundamentally different approach socially to things and change by most older people (age 65+). The older portion of the population resists changes that will benefit EVERYONE because of an outdated approaches to dealing with the world.

I volunteered at an old folks home and the majority of people I saw are hesistant to approach or trust young minorities because of that being the norm for the better part of their lives. These people can also still vote.

So you get progressive thinking younger generations (anyone aged 20-45) pushing for serious social and political changes (in this instance for legalizing marijuana), while the older, more conservative generations are rooted in their understanding of marijuana in the context of 'refeer madness' and government propaganda.

They don't 'need' to die off. They just will. And to some degree I do think that kind of thinking (resistant to globalization, immigration, science) is outdated and useless.
