Wow President Bush was almost assassinated in 2005

I was watching a show on Discovery channel about the Secret Service yesterday. It said that while President Bush was giving a speech in Tblisi, someone throw a grenade that landing within 100 feet of him. The assassin hid the grenade under a handkerchief, but the handkerchief prevented the ignition switch from going off and the grenade didn't explode.

Did anyone hear about it when it first happened? I don't think I did.

I still realize that it is an assassination attempt, but, and correct me if I'm wrong, don't most grenades have casualty radius's around (and I'm using around liberally; I've no clue as to what the actual average casualty radius is. I remember reading that a fragmentation grenade has a radius of around 15 meters, so I went with something close to that) 20 meters? Even if it was thrown at 100 feet from Bush, he still might have been hit from fragments, but it certainly wouldn't have killed him.

lol yaeh really. I don't get the whole "kill the president" agenda. The vice president usually has a very similar agenda, plus it's not like he deserved to die...bad president but still I think death would be a little over the top

Had Bush been Assassinated, it'd have given the US the fuel to do whatever it wanted. Most of the US would ally behind the government, and we'd probably be in some kind of police state now.

Smart is such an unspecific term, pragmatic? Scheming? Machiavellian? These all deal with a TYPE of smart that doesn't insinuate the man is just plain smart, which I don't think is true at all.

I don't think anyone accused him of not being smart. It's his morals that were in question.sonicare
