I wouldn't want to live without cars but for a lot of stuff, yeah I'd live. I think we would adjust faster that some people think.

Well, if "God" really wants to help save us from ourselves, and give us a chance, it'd do well to destroy our technology. I'm thinking a super solar storm would do the trick for most of the world's power grid. At least we couldn't destroy ourselves with bombs, though society would still likely crumble :P.

We wont do any permanent damage of course, but we're doing enough lasting damage that could greatly affect our ability to inhabit the planet in the future.

Yeah, it's sad how much future generations will look back on us and hate how reckless we were with our only home and the only place we know of to support our sorry ass lives. If there are future generations that is.

nope. and i don't think we've every really "lived in harmony" with nature.. for the majority of our history nature has pretty much beat the crap out of us. as soon as we started chopping down trees and building huts we pretty much stopped living in harmony with nature.

Yeah I would be willing to do that, but how can we get the world to do that? I think things like computers could be run on green energy, maybe through solar panels or whatever, there is no need to give up gaming:)

No. IMO there's no place for extremes. I think we should invest in sustainable and environmental friendly technologies. The best of both worlds.

no because its not realistic and because much like the treaty after world war 1 where we all agreed to only have so much military certain countries secretly built up a larger military. the same thing will happen if we did this and much like our dis arming of nukes other countries arent going to comply. its suicide wishful thinking is what it is.

Well of course. It's going to have to be some kind of incident that creates this situation for us. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a massive solar flare taking out our power grids and destroying our satellites. It could just be "God's" way of ensuring we can't destroy ourselves with the push of a button anymore. This thread wasn't aimed at discussing how feasible it is, but only whether people would be willing to live like that if it meant saving the environment and living more harmoniously with nature.

which also implies that i beleive we are killing the environment. which we arent. my theory is as far as how long the earth is going to last that is God's business not mine not yours not anybody else's and trying to control the environment steps on God's toes especially when we are here to enjoy the planet not be its master and control ever aspect of it. and even scienticifically speaking the fact its gone from global cooling to global warming to now climate change and the recent revealing of emails faking global warming data im calling it all a political hoax to get more power. so i honestly do even see a situation like that occuring. which makes the entire thing a moot point. and if it ever got to that point quite honestly eliminating some cars and getting all 6 billion of us to do it would be impossible so i wouldnt even bother i'd enjoy it while i can.

All technology or just luxuries?

Luxuries: I wouldn't, as much as I try and be kind to the environment I've grown accustomed to a certain lifestyle. If I had to I'm sure I could, but given the option, then no.

All technology: It'd be extremely difficult to do so. The average person uses so much technology every single day, and are almost dependant on it.
