I mean serious, why do we eat turkey every Thanksgiving Holiday ? What if the Indians didn't want to share their good food like chicken, and they said well if we have to share something with these guys, lets share the least food we like, how about the Turkeys. They taste nasty, and no one wants them, they gave the pilgrims Turkey because they wanted to keep the good stuff for themselves. And as stupid as one is, they made if official to eat turkey every freaking year at the same time, lmao ! This is just a scenario, not real in any way. Just saying, why Turkey ? What if they'd shared buffalo, we'd be having buffalo every year, lol .. I'd prefer a ham any Thanksgiving, but since turkey is rare, and its not my every day meal, i have some. So, you all looking forward to spending time with families, and good food ? What are your plans ? I'll be getting together with fam, beer, good meals, and full bellies, good times i hope. You ?

What? are you drunk?

And who gives a fudge about why it´s Turkey.

It´s a meal so thank your family and enjoy yourself.

Also that video is ludicrously bad .

You don't have to eat turkey on Thanksgiving Day. My wife cooks a slew of Philippine food such as spring rolls and noodles. We usually prefer ham to turkey.

I don't think there was buffalo back at Plymouth Rock. There are plenty of wild turkey at the northeastern US. They're not hunted that much anymore. Plenty of skunks too. Ditto for rabbits, squirrels, and pigeons.

Mmm. Squirrel or rabbit stew and pigeon pie. They ate those in the frontier, you know. ;)

Well on Christmas day we eat turkey too. This year though there breaking tradition and going to a Indian restaurant which I'm not going. So it be my first Christmas dinner a loan. They say there is a choice of Indian food or a turkey dinner. Its £25 cheaper then English restaurants. I said you get what you pay for I'm not going. I don't like going out best of times and not going to a Indian restaurant on Christmas day. True story not making it up its all booked. Although hopefully this Saturday which I'm looking forward to going to a greek restaurant with some friends who not seen for ages.

Native Americans would have found impossible to share chicken with the pilgrims because there were no chicken in America, Europeans introduced chicken to the continent, which by the way, came from Asia.

Why not ham? Or beef?

Because when Jesus founded this country, and was killed, it was two animals that first saw him. A Giant bunny, and? You guessed it, a turkey. When Jesus left to go to heaven, he gave the bunny the gift of caramel eggs, and the turkey the gift of gravy. He told them to use them as they see fit, and our holidays show the choices they made. Hallelujah!!!

I find turkey that bit too strong and glad don't have as regular dinner like chicken or other meat. Any way don't look like I'm even going Saturday night as earliest table not while 9pm which is tad too late for me to eat. I was really looking forward to it as well. :(

It's not rare around me. The gf must make at least 5 every year for us. She has that shit down to a science and every one comes out perfectly. We have an entire secton of the pantry devoted to all the hardware. 5gallon buckets for brine-ing the giant ass cooler the bucket sits in. All the injectors and crap. Once you put in the initial investment those turkeys become a viable year round food source.

Yes sweet heart, they do! They even open for Thanksgiving for those that don't have time to cook or those that are in a rush.
