Why should I send my money to Africa?

I really dont see the point.

1.They live on a very dense population of edible plants and animals yet somehow they starve. And even if they do starve they continue to have kids. Ill start sending money as soon as the Africans realize they cant afford their children and close their freaking legs until their continent is in better shape. If you cant pay for a new car you dont get one right? Well if you cant pay to feed your child then why have one?

2. They fight over shiny rocks and oil for god sake. I know we fight for oil sometimes but they take WAY to far. Africans are basically doing what the Nazis did to the Jews, to themselves. I dont really support violence unless absolutley necessary. Sure I know they need the money, being a third world continent after all, but to have mass genocide over things like that is just plain sick.

3. Sending my money to africa is only going to fund the civil wars, holocausts, blood diamonds, and extreme violence. Its so obvious that the hard earned money my parents send to Africa every month is not being utilized correctly.

I believe that we should just leave Africa to deal with themselves and tend to our own wounds in our country. Before we should worry about the rest of the world lets help ourselves first. We cant be the world police anymore. We need to pay off our $100 trillion or so in debts. We need to end high gas prices. We need to spend more money on schools, roads, public areas, and everything else. Now theres even the problem with the enviroment and global warming (if its real). Space exploration. Cures for AIDS, Cancer, hell even the common cold. Alternative methods to fueling our vehicles. New medicines. Any types of new of society benifiting technology. And since were on gamespot, why not even better video games.

My god this list could go on and on. Im probably going to get bashed for saying these things but come on people lets help ourselves for once. (Sorry for any errors in spelling Im only 14 and its summer break so all my academic abilities have pretty much gone down the drain for the next 2 months :))

I wholeheartedly agree with sending money to Africa as long as it goes through the right channels like UNICEF or the like. I think that collective responsibility is an extremely positive thing as helping your fellow man no matter what colour or creed is a neccesity, otherwise you become just as bad as the people your berating in this rant of yours. Besides, shouldn't you be doing teenager stuff. I'm 17 and don't have any qualms helping out others as I'm too busy with MGS4 to consider the principles of aid.

Considering the US has given billions of dollars in aid to AFrica over the years, I'm certain that there are a good number of altruistic people in the states as well.

What good reason? No matter what race someone is or where they live, that shouldn't affect someones desire to help them in a time of need. We all live on the same planet and we are all human beings.

It's kind of sad to see arrogant little kinds from the West think they understand the incredibly complex problem that Africa is. You don't understand the culture or the politics or the religion, etc.On top of that, every country has it's own different and unique ethnic groups and problems, you can't generalize the entire continent.It's almost disgusting to me, to see some little kid think he "gets it"

Anyway, don't send them money. I for one think Food Aid does more harm than good, because there is no incentive for local farmers and businesses to make their own food. It basically kills the economy before it's even born.

The other problem is that the US only supports abstinence-only programs, they refuse to send condoms or teach people how to use them. As history has shown, telling people to stop having sex isn't really that effective.
