i know i'm not the first to notice, but i though that this would make a good thread.

Lets  look at some examples of this.  We have the villian from the latest Indiana Jones-a crazy Russian manlady.  we have the person Vladimir Koslov- ever notice that the old "USA!USA!USA!" chant springs up whenever he has the upper hand in a match.

I'm not saying i don't like America- I LOVE America.  I'm one of the few people left that says the Pledge of Allegiance at school.

any thoughts.

I don't care what the media says. They're all biased propaganda bull. Anyone who listens and follows blindly what they say is an idiot.

Also, 2 examples hardly means we hate them.

Politically we were taught to hate them because of the cold-war, and in the movies they are often villians because A)Many Americans were terrified of Russia for decades and B) Their accents sound perfect for villians. Mostly B I think. You really don't get that kind of reaction from any other accent.

Why was the media so "pro Obama?" The media does weird stuff, we all have to try to see through it.

About what? Sure not everything the media says is bull, but alot of it is, like only giving one side of a story or not the whole story just to make one side look good or bad. You have to take everything they say with a grain of salt.  It's how its always been and probably how it will always be.

It's because America is the world's largest Capitalist superpower, and Russia was the world's leading "Communist" superpower.

The American education system, government and media which are run by the ruling class (Capitalists) have pretty much poisoned the entire population against the idea of Communism without actually explaining what the hell it means. It's pretty incredible really.

Fear. As long as people are afraid, they follow.

Hitler knew this. And so do many other leaders.

If the people are not afraid of something, leaders have no power to push any form of agenda. Fear is necessary for human nature, but when we let the few manipulate us. That's when we as people back ourselves into a corner.

There was this thing called the "Cold War". You might have heard about it. Turns out that when two countries spend nearly half a century threatening to erase each other off the map they don't get along very well. Go figure.

Point 1:THEY DONT

Point 2: Russia recently just conquered Georgia,+ threatened Poland + the USA with nuclear action if the US put a ICBM interception base in Poland.

So what was the problem again?

The media has been against Russia ever since their days as the U.S.S.R. I mean, making them the evil guys/bullies in movies is one thing, but what about all this crap in the US news about how the US has to "control Russia"? The US has no business at all in Russia. I'm sure the US would not tolerate Russia doing to them about the war in Iraq what they are doing to Russia. It sickens me, as both a Russian AND a Canadian, that the US thinks that everything that happens in the world is their business.

Other than the Georgia thing a few months ago, I don't think I've heard anything that's teaching us to hate Russia. There was definatly that issue during the cold war, and for good reason, but in recent years, I haven't seen a thing.

Well, for a long time we were enemys with Russia. So it makes sense that alot of movies made back then would portray the Russians as the bad guys. We really don't see that as much now.

Give me proof that Russia just conquered Georgia. One link is all I ask. If you didn't know Russian President Medvedev was 30 miles away from throwing over the Georgian capital. Yet he did not. That doesn't sound like conquering to me. Also Georgia isn't exactly a "democracy" as you might think.

And I'm sure that Russian state controlled media doesn't do the same thing to America.

Personally I could never hate a country since there is always cool people inhabiting any country. I could hate the leaders of the country but I don't with Russia.

I'm willing to bet that the majority of Americans think that Russia actually conquered Georgia, as in anexxed the whole country. Just my honest opinion.

By the way I think the war was Saakashvili's fault because, I think its commen sense, not to anger a country that is 500 times your size and population, and was the center of a former Superpower. But whatever, I'm waiting for him to reply back.

I think it's a after effect of the Cold War, not that many years ago since the US and Russia had a rocky relationship and that probably has it's marks upon the government still and the media which grew up in those times.

Maybe because we had a Cold War with them. Maybe because they were the biggest threat to democracy. For God's sake, the Cold War just ended. The thought of that war is still fresh in many peoples minds.

The Litvinenko incident, the war against Georgia and media censorship has meant that Russia has itself to blame for all the ill-feelings directed towards it.
