If you ever watched Tom and Jerry, most of the episodes end up with Jerry winning while Tom suffers? Why is that? Do you think Tom should win most of the time?
It's the same as Itchy and Scratchy. The reason why the mouse always wins is because that the gag right there...In real life, the cat would most likely win, so they they reverse it to create situations of pure hilarity.
They probably consider Jerry as the good guy, and Tom as the bad guy since cats really do eat mice. It's not always like that though. In a few episodes, Tom and Jerry actually work together.
I don't think that is a tough question to answer because if you didn't have Jerry winning all the time, then there would be no Tom and Jerry because Jerry would be dead.

Yes but the whole point to the show being great is the fact that tom get his ass handed to him all the time. If you started throwing shows in there where Jerry loses, then Tom and Jerry is not Tom and Jerry. Thats what made it what it was.

Sometimes Tom did get one over on Jerry, but it never really felt right. Such a good cartoon though. The best one has to be when Tom dies and has to right his wrongs with Jerry in order to get into heaven, and needs a signed letter to get past St Peter... and Jerry stalls and the escalator disappears and he ends up in hell.... with that dog. >.>
