I'm a post-modern vegetarian. it's the new "hip" thing to do. You should try it.dmc333I'm totally oblivious to the post-modern movements. Is this a legitimate fad, or just a joke I didn't get?
I'm pretty sure it doesn't count as meat. zakkroWhy not? It is the flesh of an animal that the person would be consuming....

You eat meat "ironically"...you are a confused kid that has not yet identified your true values.Because the fish they eat probably only devoured plants during its lifetime.vlin1108What relevance does that have?
It's easier to say "I'm a vegetarian" than "The only food I eat that came from a living creature is fish."CreepingDeath_But it's not accurate. It misinforms people into believing that vegetarians eat fish when they don't. "Pescetarian" is the word they should use.
What relevance does that have?[QUOTE="muthsera666"][QUOTE="vlin1108"]Because the fish they eat probably only devoured plants during its lifetime.vlin1108
You eat the fish not because of its meat, but because of the various plants the fish ate.
Then why not eliminate the consumption of any and all animal flesh and cut out the middlefish? What about shark?[QUOTE="CreepingDeath_"]It's easier to say "I'm a vegetarian" than "The only food I eat that came from a living creature is fish."JemdudeBut it's not accurate. Not everyone is the same... there are those who are strict and those who don't necessarily follow what the label implies. It's the fact of life.

I find, even when I tell people I'm a vegetarian, people ask me if I eat fish or chicken anyway.
Well the vegetarians I've known eat white meats, such as chicken or fish, but never a red meat such as ham, or beef. xXInsomniacXxposers!

Then why not eliminate the consumption of any and all animal flesh and cut out the middlefish? What about shark? You eat sharks because they're bad fish. They eat meat, which is always very bad.

That sounds like a double standard .....
Regardless, cows - horses - sheep - goat etc all do the same, eat various plants.

Ah. You're being ironic! Sorry, it took me a bit... It's 4:30 AM here, lol.[QUOTE="Jemdude"][QUOTE="CreepingDeath_"]It's easier to say "I'm a vegetarian" than "The only food I eat that came from a living creature is fish."CreepingDeath_But it's not accurate. Thou shalt not steal Bill Bailey's jokes! Also my aunt was a vegetarian (and a nutritionist) but when she got married to my uncle, he persuaded her to start eating fish.im still confused, if someone could answer these, it would be freaking awesome. 1. why do you people become vegetarians? is it because the cruelty of the killings of animals, or is it wanting to live a healthy life of just plants (you know what i mean)? The people who eat fish, are they mainly connected to the latter? Asone said, the fish only eat plants so its ok. but dont cows and other animals do the same? lastly, are there people who eat fish who are part of the first catagory (do not want the abuse of animals)? What rational do they have? THANKS!MetallicaKingsPeople become vegetarian for different reasons. Animal welfare and/or health reasons are the usual reasons.
im a Ovo-Lacto Vegetarian, and i also eat fish. Tho no mamals. When people ask, i tell them im a "vegitarian" cus most people wont know what "Ovo-Lacto" means. I eat meat because i peronally dont think its wronge or as wronge as eating mamals, mamals that are eaten are harvested and kept in cages all their life, while fish just swim around the ocean till they get caught and then turned into food. I still feel bad when i eat eggs and dairy products cus its contributing too animal crulity, though once i get on my two feet and able to drive to a trader joes, im gonna become a vegan, tho not sure about still eating fish then. kakishi1I'm not telling people what they can and cannot eat (although it would be great if more people were vegetarian). But calling one's self something that they are not, and in turn confusing the general public, is giving the vegetarian community a hard time.
Plants feel pain. They give off ultrasonic signatures when they are in distress. Let's not eat anything at all and see how long we last. It's all a crock. Humans have incisors for a reason.KrotchLord
true that Ive never understood the animal cruelty argument the fact that plants are grown specifically to eat is basically the same as caged chickens not to mention meat is good for you

Me: "I'm a vegetarian."
Friend: "Do you eat fish?"
Me: "Yes."
It gets the message across.
