Every airport I've been to is really uncomfortable. Trust me, I've been to LAX, Las Vegas, Okinawa, Tokyo, Osaka, Virginia, Boulder (CO), Denver (CO), Guam, 5 mariana islands, Washington, and more.

Every seat in at the gates always has rails. This makes it physically impossible to sleep on the seats, ruining my life for a great 5 hours.

The worst airport of all is Hawaii. They just let the humidity and heat in, and in cerntain parts the floor is always wet :/

Why can't they make rest rooms for Airports equipped with beds and couches? Sleeping on a plane is definitely not an option for me.

Do you have problems with airports?

Never had too much problems with airports but then again I've never travelled much either. I've been through Airports in Romania, Italy, Spain and Egypt and never thought of the being uncomfortable.

Airports are not a hotel. Unless there are weather delays , you shouldn't be in an airport more than a couple of hours. If you are tired enough, you will be able to sleep on a plane, I once slept from LAX, a landing and takeoff in Oakland and awoke 30 minutes outside of Ted Stevens in Anchorage Alaska. I have been in 53 or 54 different airports during my lifetime and that does not count visits to any military bases while I was flying while on active duty, if that is the case, then there is another 10 more.

I've never had a problem with any of the airports I've been to but I haven't been to one in almost four years anyway.

Most airports were designed pre 9/11. Used to be you didn't have to sit around the airport for 5 hours, you just showed up, checked your bags in and jumped on the plane. I've noticed that some have made areas that used to be seating into places for more security. Worse comes to worst though you used to be able to just leave, not so much now.

The atrium in the Atlanta airport is pretty nice. Inside the concourse (after the security checkpoint) is pretty standard seating though

That's the idea. if I was stuck in an airport overnight, I'd doze off on the carpet. I'm not fuzzy. Heck, I've slept outside in the rain with only a BDU poncho to keep me dry.

edit: Of course, if there is a USO lounge nearby, I'd take advantage of it. That's only here in the US though.

They have arm rests between the chairs because they don't want people like you turning an entire row of seats into their personal bed.

Sleep on the floor with a jacket for a pillow. I did that waiting for a flight from Melbourne to Sydney because we missed the flight straight from Perth to Sydney.

because you need to go through security screenings every time you want to go out for a cigarette because everyone is scrutinizing you for being a terrorist because you're hungry and airport restaurants and shops don't stay open for those flying late because they can be crowded because you know the plane will be even more crowded because there's classism everywhere, 1st class boarding, 1st class security screening, 1st class lines at counter, 1st class car rental desks because people get felt up and microwaved by the TSA because there seems to be more sick people at the airport than outside of it

The USOs are dumb. They aren't even open whenever normal people have flights. My flights are usually always at 3-6 am or 9-12 pm. USO is only open during the day, and during the day is only flights shorter than 5 hours.

It's not always travelling. I've had to go from Guam to Colorado, which meant we had to go through 5 airports and it took 3 days to arrive.

Waiting hours are ridiculous. I've had to stay at an airport for 7 hours before just to wait for the gate open and leave 2 hours later.

In Romanian airports it's not a problem. Most airports are filled with smoking zones complete with bars and closed off by glass walls.

O'Hare is actually pretty good in terms of comfort and I think even has a few areas where you can lodge overnight if need be. Lots of money is being spent right now to make O'Hare more inviting to people as well as making it bigger. Midway Airport on the other hand is lacking in sanitation, staff, space and really looks like the area in which it is surrounded by. Very Ghetto.

Usually I'm not crazy about them either. Though I went to Manila just over a year ago business class and it was pretty sweet. There was a special lounge for all the stops in transfer. I liked the HK airport, there was like a mini buffet in the lounge, internet access etc... The lounge in the Manila airport had liquor/beer though, so I guess it's a tie.

I haven't been in an airport since I was 12, so I can't really understand your problem. Airports are temporary purgatories (or limbos, as you see it) before you take your flight.
