Wow nice..
Anywho I have no "routine" I am very unorganized. I exercise its just I plan about 5 mins b4 I do it.
I quit smoking a month ago ..
I wake up 5:30 every day to go running ... I also play squash now
Trying to see if fitness really does help my mind
soren008
how did you quit? just say "enough!" and go cold turkey?
I find smoking often interferes with my cardio, and I live in a really good hiking region and would love to go on like six hour hikes, but I just cant. I want to quit, and its a mental additction (thank god its not a chemical one like with real cigs) because I dont smoke that much, but I just love to smoke lol.

Yeah I can quit smoking for months ....
I loved it too. It really wears you down though..
I find it easier to devote myself to one or the other
eg// When I smoke I also drink like a nutter and make no effort to move any limb, when I exercise I train really hard and eat healthy
mixing the two is insane in my eyes ... mind you smoking a cig after climbing a mountain is a divine pleasure ..
Extreamly into exercising.... upper body and lower body weightlifting. Running. physical activity aerobically, anaerobically, powerlifting, isometric, strength, toning, agility, endurance, cardiovascular.
I also am a health nut, I don't eat sweets, drink energy drinks or carbonated beverages, no alclohal/beer/wine/whiskey. I don't smoke nor will I ever use illegal overdosage of any sort of drugs.
Maybe my social situations are limited because of the majority of potential peers living in a poor lifestyle, but hey it's worth it.
Hey O-T, now that summer is rearing up behind us, actually I believe summer has technically started, what are you doing to keep in shape, and what do you do specifically to do it.Scarker
right now im currently lifting three days a week, all upper body except calves.
every day I run for 10 minutes. I drink protein shakes and consume high calories to grow muscle.

You run for ten minutes? You only do UB? Why don't you do any other lower body besides calves?
To get a real workout then you need to incorporate LB exercises too buddy... Here are some exercises:
Squats, free squats, front squats, one legged squats, powerclean, hang power snatch, lunges, toe raises, leg extensions, leg curls, step ups..... naming a few here.

The reason I dont do lower body workouts is a pretty shallow one: I love to be able to walk the next day.
I only run for ten minutes because im working my way up to 20 minutes. Im actually almost there to be honest. I dont want to go over 20 however, due to cortisol.
I do back workouts though, thats a nice shot of test.
I've started to get into a lifting routine of 3-4 days a week, basically just everyother day so it alternates per week. It's a little intimidating though because clearly I'm not at the level of a lot of people there and there's machines and exercises that I dont know about yet so I try to do something new everytime-- I have yet to get a routine going.
I have some questions though for more experienced lifters. First of all is it normal to not be able to last when your first start out? In other words I cant lift for more than 25 minutes because I'll get really shaky--so I'm assuming after you lift for awhile you can last longer right? Also, are there advantages to free weights? I use the bench press but a lot of the free weight exercises intimidate me so I normally stick to the machines.
Judo:...you'll build up your stamina.....start light......no more than 3-4 sets per excercise....(you're looking to rep out at about 10)......and free weights help build your stabalizer muscles and give you a more rounded appearence.....definite benifit......though you'll have to start out lighter....Omni-Slash
Alright, that makes sense. So basically free weight exercises work more muscles at the same time. And I can definitely say I could use less weight because I've only been doing about 2 sets per exercise w/ 10-12 reps. It's so easy to use more weight than you should at a public gym. Especially when you want impress all the hottie-mcdotties.
yup...but going too heavy too soon is the fastest way to injury yourself and discourage yourself from going.....everyone starts out small.....just keep at ti..once you see some improvement it gets so easy to keep going...Alright, that makes sense. Ya man, you dont have to do a **** load on your legs. Personally, I hate LB workouts but I do them so I dont look stupid. Try deadlifts, it works most of your back, your glutes and hams, and your quads. Its easy to do although tiring and doesnt feel like a lower body move. Its also a very good exercise for building functional strength like lifting boxes and carrying stuff, its a much better funtional strength move than squats.
Go into the gym and do 5 sets of 5 with as much as you can handle while maintaining decent form, add in 3 sets of 9, 8, and 8 with a moderate weight to finish it off... And your done for the day. I did that for 8 months and brought my deadlift up from a measly 200 to an impressive(for my age) 325. Some days I didnt even use the finishing sets.
I do about 2 hours of Upper Ab, Lower Ab, and Oblique exercises a day. I'm tring to get that six pack defined.omfg_its_dally
thats a bit much, youre over doing it, which is actually quite bad
i suggest looking up on over training
and also, doing all that ab work isnt gonna get them defined. Losing your body fat is.

yep, do a half an hour of intense ab work and use that other hour and a half to running and you'll see more results...plus eat really healthy...Please Log In to post.
