Meaning 5 bands which sum up the main kinds of music you like, and such.

1. Frank Zappa

2. Belle & Sebastian

3. Magma

4. Porcupine tree

5. Estradasphere

6. super furry animals

7. Pink Floyd

8. ABBA

9. King Crimson

10. Nick Cave and the bad seeds

As you can tell my tastes are a mix of conventional, like Porcupine tree and belle & sebastian, and weird like Estradasphere, Magma, and Frank Zappa.

I don't know how to answer. I mean I listen to many things besides my favorite genre being rock (including sub genres of course). Had you asked me 6 years ago I'd make this list with no effort but today? Sheesh

MF Doom to me is brilliant. His production is amazing, I can listen to his instrumental albums all day and his two solo albums are Hip Hop cIassics. Madvillain, Danger Doom, and Viktor Vaughn and all his side projects as well are just all great and worth checking out. Diamond District to me though is boring. Cormega is very good, his new album was one of the better to come out this year. I've never listened to Apathy. Skyzoo is very good but sometimes he has a boring flow which is due to his style but with the right production he shines and his debut is quite good for that reason. Fashawn also is good but he doesn't hold my attention. You should check out Blu and Exile. Below the Heavens is one of the best albums of the last few years. Blu Colla WorkersSo(ul) AmazingThe Narrow PathShow Me The Good Life It's such a shame that this album went out of production so quickly. It's a cIassic but because of poor exposure it just didn't sell enough. Copies of the album go for up to 300 dollars and I hope to one day find one (for much less of course).

I like it. I am really getting into hip hop recently. I realize before i was so into prog rock that I was getting really pretentious about other kinds of music, but now I appreciate rap and hip hop for how unique they are. The flow of the lyrics, the beats, the lyrics themselves are becoming facinating to me. I think delivery can almost ruin a good rapper. Aesop rock for example is a brilliant lyricist to me, but his delivery is so dull and flat that I get bored of him after a while. Shame though, I really love his lyrics I just wish he was more interesting with his delivery. I would say my hop hop appreciation comes partly from OT:P I would say these are my favorites right now though.

1. Saul Williams- I know some consider him more of a spoken word poet or something, but I still think he counts.

2. MF Doom

3. Aesop Rock

5. El-P

Lots of good stuff in there and glad you liked that Blu & Exile, Hip Hop needs more people listening to that.

MF Doom as I said, genius

Aesop Rock is someone I never could get into because of exactly what you said, his delivery. Delivery is everything in Hip Hop and it makes a good MC. You don't really have to have the best voice, just a great style. Method Man is a good example of that.

The Roots are one of my favorite groups, Black Thought is one of the best MCs in Hip Hop and they are so talented and consistent. Not one bad album.

Brother Ali is also great, Shadows on the Sun is one of the best I've heard. His delivery is really emotional and he has the production to back it up.

Mos Def is another favorite of mine, I absolutely love Mos Def and if you like Mos Def and MF Doom, you should check out a mixtape that's out there where the DJ mixed together MF Doom and Mos Def. It's legally free since it is a mixtape but I don't want to post it since mods might crash down on me.

Black Star is also great, Talib Kweli is an MC I think you'd like and Black Star is a duo with him and Mos Def. Check them out.

Raekwon is also great but very inconsistent. Only Built For Cuban Linx I and II are both great and Only Built For Cuban Linx I is a cIassic, undisputable.

Dope list.

Well said man. Although I haven't seen Grateful Dead (or do I know about them), but the others mentioned are really swell. There's a good clip on YouTube of Santana and Clapton playing 'Jingo' (from the Crossroads Guitar Festival if not mistaken). Really cool. We can clearly see the different playing style of them two.

I can't possibly sum up my music taste in 10 bands. My favorites tend to be alternative. However, I also listen to so called cIassic rock, cIassical, blues, jazz, hip hop, R & B, electronica, and even a bit of country, celtic, even some metal. And various subgenres in each category. But to go with my favorite 10....

  1. The Cure
  2. Placebo
  3. Depeche Mode
  4. Pearl Jam
  5. New Order
  6. Joy Division
  7. Echo & the Bunnymen
  8. Kasabian
  9. Bloc Party
  10. Smashing Pumpkins

Just to scratch the surface.
