When I was a kid I remember The Simpsons being very funny every episode but then suddenly it became unfunny and bland. Around about when did this happen?

They're not as good but I still wouldn't say they're awful. It's incredible how long they've gone actually...Strider_91According to Wiki they have had 508 episodes across 23 seasons. Oh my
the show's what, 25 years old? that's fairly impressive for the same VA's and writers(for the most part), and as with any show, YOU'RE GOING TO RUN OUT OF IDEAS. there is only so much you can plausibly make a city do and be funny. the same started plaguing south park a few years ago.
i applaud the simpsons and matt groening for being consistently funny for as long as it had. family guy only lasted a few years, even after it was brought back on the air; its fairly bad now. south park makes fun or real world stuff, but a lot of times its sketchy at best; the stuff that is original instead of directly poking fun at somethin is usually the best they have. i honestly can't think of a show that can compare to how well the simpsons have faired over the years. heck, even futurama got cancelled once.
Compared to current Family Guy, Simpson's are still amazing.
Most fans just grew out of them

Early 2000's.
The Simpsons during the 90's was pure gold. For me, by the time I got to Season 11 and 12, I wasn't as into it as I initially was.
Season 12 in my opinion, afterwards they just started bringing in pop-culture references and going "LOL POP CULTURE REFERENCES".
Its still decent and enjoyable but around season 12 was when it stop being great. But thne the 90's were just great.
It just a trend with these shows they can only do so much. Family Guy, Southpark and the Simpsons are no were close to how good they used to be
The general overall quality of The Simpsons began to diminish between Seasons 12-15, but there are some real standout episodes in recent seasons.
Mobile Homer, Bonfire of the Manatees, Milhouse of Sand and Fog, The Italian Bob(in my Top 10 favourite episodes of all time), Girls Just Want to Have Sums, Marge Gamer, You Kent Always Say What You Want, Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind, Treehouse of Horror XX, The Bob Next Door, MoneyBart, 500 Keys.
I haven't seen anything from Season 23, but these are my favourite episodes from Seasons 16-22.
Hmmm, haven't kept up with the Simpsons in like 2-3 years, but before that I still found it mildly enjoyable and there were some nice moments here and there, which for a series that has been on as long as it has is pretty good.

I do agree with this. I also kind of stopped watching Simpsons sometime during my first year of college. The simpsons didn't really worsen (or if it did not by a whole lot), it just simply changed since the times have changed. The last episodes I've seen I remember being moderately enjoyable still.
When people started getting sick and tired of it which is why the list of seasons vary.
Personally I've stopped watching the Simpsons not because I dislike it now but rather I sort of got "sick and tired" of it. I guess after a few years I'll go through a Simpsons renaissance and watch every episode from season one to the latest.
When Phil Hartman was murdered by his batsh*t crazy wife. He did a lot of the best voice acting. The show was never the same.

I disagree, I saw a season 2 episode a few weeks ago and I laughed a few times. I saw a new episode about the same time, and didn't laugh at all.I just don't think the new stuff is funny.
