I personally think he's an amazing chef (Michelin 3 Stars), but a very douchy person (but I still admire him because he's just amazing).

What's your opinion OT?

I wouldn't call him douchy. All that yelling and stuff is just an act. He is actually really nice and occasionally you'll see glimpses of that on his shows. I would like to visit his restaurant in LA in the near future.

Chefs in general are overrated. It must be because I'm very cheap, but I don't want to pay 40 dollars for a steak, and I don't care how much preparation went into it. I'd rather cook my own steak for under 20 dollars.

From what I've seen, I don't like him. I don't care how good your food taste, if you're a douch, I'm not going to buy from you.

You know he's a "douche" on a dramatised TV show. He doesnt act like that to customers.

Idk, I cook but some of the steaks I've had at fine restaurants are better. For one they usually use prime beef which is hard to get a hold of outside of a restaurant.

That's just the character he plays on American TV. Hell's Kitchen and the American version of Kitchen Nightmares are the cartoon edition of Gordon Ramsay, not the man himself.

IRL he is incredibly kind and charitable. He started the British version of Kitchen Nightmares as a genuine way to help people, and in the British show he was not afraid to get his hands dirty and bust his tail to really help people. He's given people jobs, personally paid the tuition at culinary school for some, and personally paid for temporary staff to give people he believes in a chance.

He has gotten incredibly rich and the past few years his business managers have made some questionable decisions for him and in his name. He's still a good guy though and I'm a fan.

who?

wait, that chef guy?
I have not had or remember seeing his food, but it sounds like he is good at making it.
And can't remember seeing him not in that show, so I can't judge on if he is annoying,

But that show he is in is annoying to watch because of his random yelling.

He as a chef is pretty good in his cooking. For his mouth well, it probably needs some soap. BUT if the swears were warranted then it's fair enough. I've worked before and my supervisor swears a lot. Sometimes I'm at the receiving end. Then again if it was a genuine mistake I don't care. And he rarely swears unless that person did a mistake. Other then that he's quite nice.

I think he's a legitimately nice guy. Yes, he's rather fiery, but I've watched enough episodes of Kitchen Nightmares to know that he's not just a chef who cusses a lot, and there's a lot more to him than that.

The Hell's Kitchen act: Hilarious. Also he's making one of those people chef at one of his restaurants, he's a douche to them when they fail to demonstrate that they can do the job.

Real version: Lovely person, he's a sweetheart :P

When you go on tv as yourself And act like something you're not then either you're a phony, a tool, or a sell out. He's a cook for f sake he didn't cure cancer or master time travel....he puts food in a pot and heats it up. How these people get shows to begin with is beyond me. Why anyone would watch this nobody yell at people like he's someone important is even further beyond me. But I guess this is what happens when there are 300 channels on tv and no option to pick and chose the ones you would actually pay for. You get **** shows like cooks yelling at people or hillbillie women capturing hogs for a living!

I adore Kitchen Nightmares. It is simply amazing television.

His behavior on the show, as mentioned, is pumped up for drama and offscreen he seems like he'd be a really cool guy. I'd love to get a chance to go to one of his restaurants.

WHo would win in a fight, Gordon or Irvine?

That would be the fight of the century. Irvine may be jacked but Gordon has his superhuman rage. I'm a fan of Gordon. He has a pretty foul tongue but he knows his food.

Hell's Kitchen is the only show he is on that depicts him in a negative light. He is a really nice, passionate guy (watch his Holiday Special) and a very caring individual (Kitchen Nightmares, despite yelling a lot, he wants to help).

Well, I like the guy. Not so much the drama shows such as Kitchen Nightmare and Hell's Kitchen, too much acting in those shows. Masterchef US is cool though, and his other nicer(english) shows such as the F-word.

He's not a douch, the yelling and screaming is just an act to push the workers. I don't really think all that swearing is necessary, but he's actually a pretty nice guy in other situations.

If you watch the BBC version of Kitchen Nightmare and the F Word then people would see the differences between the British and American versions. He hardly ever yells on the British versions and usually is a very nice and kind person where as on Fox they make him out to be a yelling hate machine. I would love to eat at one of his restaurants.

I love the Mitchell and Webb sketch on "Kitchen Nightmares":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCU3K6l95Xw

I'm with the others on this, he's okay deep down but what you see on the tele is just an act. I'd love to eat som eof his dished, though.

I watched a reality show where Gordon was teaching some celebrities how to cook. I think viewers could vote them out of the kitchen, I can't remember. But I do recall Vic Reeves walking into the restaurant and asking for a fried egg. Gordon, who didn't recognise him, gave him an earful for ordering such a basic dish from a fancy place.
