I was going to guess the United States, but then again there is Canada, Australia, and New Zealand....THEN again, those three countries aren't quite as prominent as the United States, making me think again it's Britain's biggest friend. I heard Brits use the phrase "American cousins" sometimes, making me lean toward this viewpoint.

United States

UK sort of gave birth to the US
US and UK have fought in a lot of wars together
US gave a lot of material support to UK during WWI and WWII prior to involvement
UK is an ally on the War on Terror, despite the fact they shouldnt be.
We speak the same language, barring "grey" and "al-yoo-min-ee-um"

I'd say America.. Here in Australia the UK dont try to interfere with anything we do so even though we are a colony of theirs and still a republic (under the Queen) she lets us do what we want when we want.

Portugal is the oldest ally, however, America is probably our biggest and most worthwhile alliance.

The US, I hope. The only other decent countries tend not to do much. At least the US and UK have a spine between them.

Its France!!

Not many people know this but in 1940, Winston Churchill wanted to establish a union between French and Great Britain, which would effectavly be the formation of a Franco - British army, before a French answer could be given Paris was overrun by the Germans.

Also 1956, the French priminister Guy Mollet offered to join the British union, having Queen Elizibath as head of a new French state. The British government rejected this.

Not really. And we're in the damn union...nothing compares to the economic alliance we have with the EU nations.

If by biggest you mean in the literal sense, it should be "the green giant". Then again, UK has no friends. It has political alliances. That happens with every country in the world
