IDK what I would do.
Nothing. I also post on RPG Codex (games and movies), Blu-ray.com (movies, TV shows and home entertainment tech) and MyAnimeList, so losing just this dead forum wouldn't be too bad. Dropped The Escapist. Place was depressing and I got the impression I wasn't liked by most. Shouldn't have come back after they banned me three years ago. They even banned the guy who invited me back, Yoshi. Depressing.
Well I don't post anywhere else and I am essentially off social media, so....I'd probably do a lot more productive stuff.
I can usually only play games in 1-2 hour sessions before I get bored, and when I get bored I usually come on here...then I go take of my real-world stuff.
So here's hoping Gamespot forums close down because I really need to get my shit together!
Kidding, I know a lot of people enjoy it (me too).
"If" for whatever reason GS just close the forums but not the comments section articles. I would just turn in my moderator badge and hit deactivate as I rarely post in the comments section and the reason why I'm always active on GS is to go to the forums, mostly to SW.
Where would I go next? I'll just post on Twitter for the rest of my gaming life.
Wouldn’t bother much with Gamespot anymore? I enjoy reading threads/posts especially System Wars and OT. I get a kick reading people claim Xbox is crap and have no games,or Sony is overrated and has movie games,etc..... No real harm done, just entertaining! 🙂
Eh. Might try Reddit. Already been using the app a lot this year. Half the time browsing the likes of r/Warframe, r/pcmasterrace, and most recently r/masseffect, meme-y stuff like r/PrequelMemes and r/AteTheOnion, and even weirdly fascinating stuff like r/MapPorn and r/GifRecipes.
As for the other half... ...not going to talk about it.
That would kind of suck cause I'm familiar with most of you.....as familiar as you can be that is........and I don't know where I'd go.
Not completely sure to be honest. This is the only forum I’ve ever really been actively a part of. Enjoy it seeing as it’s very close-knit and in general cozy. Don’t use Gamespot for anything else apart from the Stacks feature.
Other than that, I do chat on MyAnimeList occasionally though, that’s about it.
Reddit’s layout isn’t appealing to me.
Nothing. One less site to visit. I check out some places on reddit, but I don't have an account nor will I ever make one. I'm exhausted of remembering all my usernames and passwords for sites. Most of the forums I joined died awhile back, the last being Gametrailers, RIP. Same with game launchers, main reason why I don't have an Epic account. While the free games would be nice, I don't need them and one less thing bother myself with.
I'd probably move over to Twitter since they actually post funny relevant meme and gifs and its actually a decent forum except for all the blocking people do thats kinda messed up you can't see what people post if they block you. They got porn though on there too so its a fine place I never liked it much at first but I'd guess i'd move over there if this place dies and I have no choice.
I also like youtube comments too I used to just flat out skip them but there actually pretty funny to read I'm getting kinda into them now.
At first it'd probably be a let-down, because I've been coming to this site for so many years and it's become a chunk of many of our lives.
At the same token, I think it would ultimately have a positive impact on my life. I would just adapt and likely use the internet a lot less, and especially break the habit of surfing the web during periods of boredom. Gamespot is the only forum I still post on these days, and I hardly use social media anymore, so getting rid of it might have that habit-breaking effect on me.
Start my own forum and a website to host it on. I'd acquire newsmaps.com, get a small team aggregating news and present it on a heavily customisable, layer-based intelligent map UI. The forums would be a big hit.
Or maybe I'd take up eating crisps again. It's about 50/50.
Hmm I would probably try to find another gamespot like forum out there. there are alot of forums on the internet.
I've been visiting these forums for almost 10 years. It's become a habit really. I don't think I'm willing to invest into another forum at this point. If this place shuts down I may just start posting in a few discord communities I'm a member of but never participate.
No idea what I would do. I've been here for so long now.
Met a lot of people along the way too. I could say that I would miss a lot of them if that happened.
Lets do our best here with whom is left and keep this place going strong so that will never be a thing. At least I hope.
