How old were you, what movie was it, who did you go with, and what did you think of the movie afterwords?

Bonus: When did it come out?

asdf.

I was 13 when it came out in 1977 and I went with my brother and my parents. I thought it was a pretty decent movie when I initially watched it, but it's been quite some time since I've revisted it so I'm unsure if I would enjoy it nearly as much as when I was a squirrly little kid.

I believe it was John Carpenter's The Thing back in 1982. I was 7 years old and my uncle took me. Next was Beverly Hills Cop.

I don't know - my parents never censored my media consumption unless it was something like Dracula and I was 5 with a wild imagination. The first movie I saw on a date was "The Hills Have Eyes".

I went and saw American Beauty (1999) with my sister and her friends when I was 13. It was rated 18 and here that means you can't view it unless you're 18, so they had to kinda sneak me in. I was blown away by the film to be honest, I was intrigued by the fact a film can be so bleak and beautiful, and based around such 'grown up' issues. I still enjoy it on the rare occasions I catch it on the television.

My uncle was babysitting me and he wanted to see Purple Rain back when it came out in 1984. (I was six at the time.) That was the first time I got to see R-rated nudity. :P

Ah, memories.

That was the 80's though. Its how we rolled. I would personally hate growing up today in a world of over protective soccer moms.

I don't think I've ever seen an R rated movie in theaters. Of course I think I've seen around 10 or less movies in theaters so that's why.

I don't really remember... but if I had to guess, it may have been "The Passion of the Christ".

I'm guessing that was it, because it was in theatres before I was of age to see it, and I remember seeing it with a friend and his parents.

Heck yeah it is. I need to see it again. It's kind of scary that it's been 20 years.

I can't remember the first R-rated movie I watched in the theater.  It might have been Alien.

I did, however, watch "Gotcha" in the theater.  The first movie to have a PG-13 rating.  1985.  High school date night.  Good memories.

I don't think I've actually ever seen an R rated movie in theaters. But the first R movie I watched was Stand By Me, the Stephen King movie. I watched it at home in the middle of the night one summer, I was maybe 7 or 8. It didn't freak me out at all. I wasn't phased by it in the least, and I'm the person who plugged the nightlight back in after watching The Ring.

I was going to say Waterworld or Mars Attacks but they are pg-13 movies. Kind of surprised me that they are both not rated R. I'll go with either Braveheart or Die Hard. I would've been seven or eight at the time so it makes sense.

That's one of my favorite movies. What a great one to use as an introduction to adult cinema.

Mine was The Good Son. It was alright, but it didn't leave much of a lasting impression on me one way or the other. My second one was Schindler's List which was a much better entry.

The Exorcist. It was a double feature at a drive-in, after a kid's movie. It was the summer 1974, I was almost 5, and I was expected to fall asleep before it started... that didn't work.

That damned movie still scares the hell out of me.

I think it would have to have been American Gangster for the first R rated film I saw in cinemas. I would've been 13 or 14. But I had seen Scarface on dvd before then, so that's the first R rated film I had ever seen.
