What languages do you speak?

I've been looking into learning a second language. English is my native tongue and i'd really like to learn Mandarin or Japanese. I have wanted to go overseas for a while now and it would help to learn another language.

So what do you guys speak and where did you learn it?

English, Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, German, French, and Portuguese

English and Spanish, and basic conversational Japanese, Tagalog and Cantonese

I speak English, I was supposed to have learned Spanish in school but I didn't care enough to remember it. 

Fluently? Just English. I know Spanish to an extent, not nearly well enough to be able to survive in a Spanish-speaking country on my own, but when I traveled to Spain this spring I was able to get by and have interactions with others. I realized that just being there did as much for my Spanish abilities as five years of the language in school. 

(Attempting) to learn a language (and language in general) is the one of the most interesting and rewarding things I've ever done, and at the same time nothing angers and depresses me like when I fail at it. 

English, Spanish, German and very little French.

I'm interested to pick up Mandarin and any other language that is most prominently spoken in the business world.

Unfortunately only English. I can speak a little spanish and apparently was fluent in it until I started school as a kid. Maybe one day I'll learn Spanish again if I work in a Spanish speaking place.

Didn't realise so many people spoke Portuguese! :D I speak English as my Main Language, Portuguese as my second, and i'm learning japanese and have been for 4 years, not quite fluent but getting there. Chicken453

Well it is the 3rd European language most spoken in the world, and contrary to what many people believe, the majority of people in South America speak Portuguese, not Spanish.

In my case, Portuguese and English fluently, functional Spanish, and rudimentary French. I can understand bits of Italian.

I can understand 90% of German, speaking and writing is at a 40% level.
I can understand about 40% of French, speaking and writing is at 10% (I can make myself clear in basic conversation haha) 

I know a tiny bit of Japanese, from experience I can help myself with Japanese language when I get lost in Tokyo. But that's about it.

Fluent in English and I'm learning Chinese and German. Chinese isn't too hard to speak as long as you get the tones right, other wise instead of saying "How are you," you may be saying "How is your mother?"

And I also took 4 years of German in high school, and went to Stuttgart for two summers.
