mine is Beethoven's symphony no.9
PS: you can list more than one

my favorite, however, would probably be Pachelbel's Cannon, or any variation thereof.TylendalWhat about this variation?
Hmm. I'm fond of O Fortuna... my favorite, however, would probably be Pachelbel's Cannon, or any variation thereof. Pie Jesu is nice, if you don't think Classical has to be old. Ave Maria is also amazing. Also, not really relevant, but I heard a really good quote once. "Movies and Videogames are the last great bastion of classical music."Tylendal
i agree about that quote. The music on Modern warfare 2 is some of the best i've heard.
[QUOTE="Tylendal"]my favorite, however, would probably be Pachelbel's Cannon, or any variation thereof.v13_KiiLtzWhat about this variation? Known about it for years, it's very impressive. Nice to hear a modern re-imagining of a classic song that doesn't involve lots of drums and poorly spliced over lyrics, with a whole bunch of annoying repetitions or pausing. This is an excellent tribute to the original song. My favorite, however, would be one on a CD I have that is done almost entirely on Cello... used to use it to help me fall asleep.
I can't even decide which Beethoven symphony I like best. There are way too many to choose from, all of which are masterpieces in their own right.

Sweet, someone who actually has a real appreciation for music. That's rare these days
who could anyone NOT consider that a classic? It's the best piano music ever created. and yes, Chopin's Nocturne Op. 9 is my favourite as well. I also like, Zigeunerweisen, and The Ride of the ValkyriesFond of Chopin Nocturne Op.9 right now if you consider that classical.

In the Hall of the Mountain King. It kinda reminds me of an on coming goblin invasion, and I love goblins. Kinda like this.
Metal version.

I love ride of the valkyries, but I tried to watch that opera once and it was just excruciating.

haha i must have heard the flight of the valkryie song a thousand times because i used to play this game called "the flight of the hamster",
edit: i've associated that song so much with that game that i called it flight of the valkryie, rather than the ride of the valkryies

I only like Mozart's opera (and there was this one Italian guy who wrote Turandot... I think his name was Puccini or something) and I forgot to add Mars, Bringer of War by Gustav Holst. I love all of his "Planets" work. And Gladiator's theme used this music as the inspirational source too.In the Hall of the Mountain King. I suggest you give this metal version a listen as well.
Dmitri Shostakovich - Violin Concerto No. 1
Gyorgy Ligeti - String Quartet
Maurice Ravel - String Quartet in F Major
Ludwig Von Beethoven - Piano Sonata Opus 53 (Waldstein)
Gregorio Allegri - Miserere
Olivier Messiaen - Quatuor pour la fin du temps
Giacinto Scelsi - Pfhat
Josef Suk - Asrael Symphony
And of course there's lost of J.S. Bach, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Janacek, Sibelius, Purcell, and the like.

Yeah. I like that version, and the apocalyptica version is good too.

Holy ****! Thanks for the link, that's a sweet rendition.
Air by J. S. Bach. It's soo peaceful, it just calms me down everytime and I love playing it on viola.
also, Bach'sConcertos for Violin and for Two Violins are just amazing. So much fun!
Mozart's Ein musikalischer Spaß, KV 522 is the only correct answer (@ 0:43 and 2:01 - brilliant!)
Fur Elise is also a pretty cool guy. eh was deaf and still composed the ninth symphony.
Mine would have to be Amazing Grace played on bagpipes
Also another favourite is Over The Hills And Far Away off sharpe but on youtube theres a version that is done by a orchestra with no singing and is beautiful
Edit: oh and how could i forget Tchaikovskys 1812 Overture i have loved it since i first heard it on V for Vendetta
