Sure, it's not as good as it was earlier in the decade (The Wire, The Sopranos, Deadwood, The Shield, The West Wing, Six Feet Under, Rome), but there's still some great stuff out there.
To be honest i havent watch tv in awhile. My little bro watches disney channel, and i only watch when they show some tennis tournaments on eurosport. Tvs gone down hill since the 90s :(
I think it's horrible. Too much reality TV. Too many good shows that don't last a season, too many crappy shows that never get canceled. Sitcoms that are unoriginal and lame. That's why I hardly watch TV anymore.
It's far better than a decade ago. Cable has improved the quality of tv shows beyond my wildest dreams. Sure, it still sucks when good shows get canceled (like KINGS :( ), but this is something that's been happening since forever
TV is actually terrible nowadays, they never put anything decent on and all the shows are just repeated to death. The only good things that come on are movies and a small number of TV shows, and you don't even need a TV to watch them.
it wouldnt be so bad if the english channels actually treated the fans of the US shows as well as they treat the fans of english shows, examples - the BBC putting he wire on at 11.20pm 3 nights a week but dropping it any chance they get, mad men being shown on BBC 3 and not advertised, channel 4 coming to within an inch of ruining the sopranos finale by putting it on well past midnight
and then in general lack of awarenss, i couldnt even say who shows the shield, generation kill hasnt ever been mentioned
There are always one or two shows that i like watching, but the vast majority of television is crap. Cable tv costs way too much. In this digital age we should be able to pay for the shows or channels that we actually watch. I am THAT close to cancelling cable entirely if i can find alternate ways of watching True Blood and Hung on HBO without having to wait a year for the dvd's.
I haven't seen a great sitcom since some of the 90s ones, nor any great cartoon shows (not including anime). I think television sucks, aside from channels like National Geographic and some other science-y related ones. I think television should move into the future, instead of having scheduled programs. You know, all on-demand stuff.
Atleast MTV is setting the bar high with awesome programmes like A shot at love with tila tequila, that dating show, that other dating show, tila tequila 2, the twin blondes, pretty much no music left, no legendary cartoons left, no epic alternative music shows, that skater dude who is a millionaire, that other skater dude with a big african american buddy, the hills, the cityorwhatsitsname and intellectual, profound stuff like that. its actually so quality, other channels and networks are copycating MTV. They are on to something! =D
I must've watched evry special on History and Discovery. The world news is the same crap over and over, especially around elections and politics. ESPN is more funny than some programs, ever watch Around the Horn or PTI? Best hour of Sport News.
