It's AGI, so pre-tax. A 401k deduction is just money that gets diverted to your 401k account. If your company does 401k matching, that's technically extra income and that would likely count.

Haven't gotten anything yet. I have money so no worries but want that check to upgrade my old Insignia 42 Inch Plasma TV HD which keeps popping when I turn it on plus it leaves a burned image if I play for periods of time. Want a 50 inch 4K TV badly with that money. I am more than certain
