I personally rate King Kong 2005 as Peter Jackson's finest after LOTR trilogy and more over The Hobbit series. TBH i enjoyed it more over the original. What a great cast ( Jack, Adrian, Naomi,Jamie,Andy,Thomas,Kyle ), awesome 40's New york vibe , tropical rainforest jawdropping backdrops and the fight between Kong and Rex was spendidly spectacular.

Well? Was Peter Jackson's King Kong 2005 a masterpiece OT? :)

Not even close honestly. The Skull island stuff was a lot of fun, but most of the movie ended up being kust plain boring IMO.

If the movie was a lot shorter I may have a better opinion of it.

Any movie with Jack Black can't be considered a masterpiece.

I'd be one of the few to say I found the movie entertaining.

I thought it was great, loved the Skull Island stuff and even though the build up to it was very well done. I personally wouldn't consider it a masterpiece, though. It's a very enjoyable movie.

I don't think I'd call it a masterpiece but I did think that it was an excellent movie which I enjoyed very much.

It was ok but it was just way too long. Jackson seems to have developed a phobia of making movies that can be watched in under 3 hours.

I liked it well enough, but I don't think I've ever heard anyone refer to it as a masterpiece.

It was a great remake. It had its flaws such as the long intro but I felt the remake did the original some justice, from its action, it's star actress, and its storytelling.

Overall it was a good movie.

Jack Black was fine in the movies you guys, but after Skull Island ended, it was a drag after that.

But I will say this, it was nice that Peter Jackson made King Kong 2005 with up-to-date technology standards and giving that fact that the first King Kong was a big thing back in the early 1930's and when it became a huge hit, it was all about Guerrillas, Guerrilla frenzies with movies, toys, and just about every Guerrillas theme you can think. But when Peter Jackson King Kong 2005 release, there was no Guerrilla hype.

Edit: I rate this movie a 7/10.

I enjoyed the first couple hours but after they returned to New York it went downhill. The ending dragged on for way too long

I don't really rate it that highly to be honest... I think it's the weakest of his films.

It had some truly beautiful and awesome shots throughout the film, and was a good movie. Like others have said though it was imperfect in a lot of ways such as the long drawn out typing of Skull island (seriously who actually cared?) as well as the movie having some really boring parts. I think a better editor could have really made the movie shine a lot brighter.

I liked that King Kong movie but for some reason it is badly rated and badly received.

Haven't seen it but LOTR trilogy was far from it so I doubt it.

I don't know how I feel about the whole movie, but the part where Kong bites off the dinosaur's tongue is one of the most badass things I've ever seen.

At the risk of being a hipster and saying "Peter Jacksons older movies are his best", Peter Jackson needs to remake Bad Taste or Dead Alive.

I remember I didn't like the movie much. I remember it being kinda sad, but other than that I didn't care much about what was going on. The whole thing just went on for far too long. But I watched it in like 2006, so almost 10 years ago now.

I liked it, but the first one was a true masterpiece because of the firsts ever things that were used in making the film.

Movie is a croc of shit but it holds a special place is my heart as being the thing that was on in the background to flood out the sex sounds when I was just one room away from my parents.

Hardly. One would have to liberally redefine the entire linguistical boundaries of the word masterpiece to even consider such.

Definitely felt like it was trying to be an ambitious movie but fell flat of that expectation. With that I said, I enjoyed the movie thoroughly, from start to finish...

Fun action/adventure flick, but hardly a masterpiece. The game on the otherhand is one of the best movie tie-in games, and arguably better than the movie itself.

I thought it was decent except for the ridiculously over the top chase scenes (running between the brontos' legs) that PJ insists on cramming into almost all his movies. But a masterpiece? Naaah.
