Walt Disney brought us such classics as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Alice in Wonderland, Pinocchio, Bambi, and Peter Pan;

while Don Bluth had his fair share with The Secret of NIMH, An American Tale, The Land Before Time, and All Dogs Go to Heaven.

Arguably, Disney has left a far deeper impact on pop-culture, but the artistry and love Bluth put into his productions cannot be denied, either.

So, who was the better animator, OT? or: whose work do/did you prefer?

Don Bluth's movies are more deep in themselves and loved every one you mentioned. Disney's movies are more pure hippie, in comparison.

I don't care much for the older Disney movies aside from Bambi, so I'll say Don Bluth by default but I did enjoy his movies. Shame The Land Before Time was ruined.

Disney better, as they have a much larger library of works spanning decades.

Bluth had about 8-10 years of great, followed by 5-8 years of fail.

Lets compare Disney(only sticking to 2D) greats vs Bluth greats[note greats, leaving of mehs, fails, and direct to video]

Disney:

Snow white, Pinochio, Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderela, Fantasia, Alice in wonderland, Peter Pan, Lady & the tramp, sleeping beuty, sword & the stone, 101 dalmations, Jungle book, Robin hood, fox & the hound, the little mermaid, beuty and the beast, aladin, Pocahantis, the hunchback, lion king, mulan, Princess & the frog

Bluth:

The secret of Nimm, An american tail, land before time(1!), All dogs go to heaven, Antasia?, Titan AE?

The Legacy Walt left far outways Bluth

Walt Disney hands down. I don't care how pretty Bluth's animation is, or how much more "mature" his films are, the bottom line is more than half of Bluth's production (pretty much every film of his TC didn't mention) is terrible. Disney has been much more consistent than Bluth throughout its history, and that's evidenced by the fact that Disney's good movies far outnumber its bad ones.

Don Bluth's name always reminds me of Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. In my opinion, even though I really like Don Bluth's style, Disney wins simply because they have a much larger library of quality animated films.

I'mma have to go with Walt just because he was the first who had the balls to make a feature length animation and thus it was inevitable that he was setting the bar for the others who followed.

Don, on the other hand, made *that* scene in The Land Before Time, and made many children of my generation face the idea of mortality so he's uber-cool too. My vote still goes to Walt though.

Don Bluth. Ain't he the guy that keeps remaking his antique Dragon's Lair video game?

Don Bluth, The Secret of NIMH was weird to me as a kid but I love it now since I know the meaning behind it.

Walt Disney. I love Secret of Nimh, and like All Dogs Goes to Heaven,The Land Before Time and American Tail, but Don Bluth really took a nosedive during most of the 90s. At least Titan AE was pretty decent.

Well, I'm really referring to the actual men as filmmakers rather than the studios they created.

Both have their good points. Most of the Disney movies and All Dogs Go to Heaven and The Land Before Time.

Bluth was a better animator, artist, and he wasn't a bigoted psychopath.

A Troll in Central Park is too terrible to forgive Don Bluth. Disney has done a lot of horrible things, but that movie. God damn. Nothing is that bad. It's even worse than Batman and Robin.OICWUTUDIDTHAR
I haven't seen that movie since I was a kid, but I do remember enjoying it. And being creeped out by it.
