Trying to hook up PS3 to AV Receiver that runs to a projector

Trying to use HDMI cable from the PS3 to back of Receiver Input labeled (Game), have also tried the Optic Cable but still nothing on the projector screen.

Receiver is Onkyo HT-R980 and tried their website....no luck

Hoping someone was dealt with this before

PS3 output to Receiver input, Projector to receiver output, make sure power is on, volume is up, projector/PS3 are on, and "source" is set to to the input the PS3 is hooked up to (and if you have multiple projector inputs, make sure the projector is on the proper "source" setting).

Other than that, all there is left is to make sure the projector lens cap is off, I think.

TC mentions a receiver? I'm guessing AVR? Take the AVR out of the loop first and see if u can get them to handshake
